Trump continues posting amid the Iran war, again falsely claiming the U.S. has “almost total control” of the Strait of Hormuz, urging Iranians to “rise up and fight,” and saying he does not care whether Iran signs a new agreement. In reality, the U.S. does not control the strait; anti-American sentiment in Iran has intensified amid U.S. strikes that have killed civilians, and Trump omits that his administration withdrew from the previous diplomatic framework before the conflict sharply escalated.

Carney: We will use Alberta's oil as leverage.

Trump: We are changing the name of Venezuela to "proven oil reserves."

REMINDER: US Midwestern and Gulf plants were actually reconfigured for Canadian heavy crude AFTER Venezuelan volumes faded. Our only major advantage now is geography and pipelines.

Canada NEEDS A STRATEGY, NOT A SHOUTING MATCH.

Donald J. Trump has now publicly told Doug Ford to “fall in line,” or Canada will face “far WORSE” consequences, while again calling Carney “Governor” and attacking Canada’s economic dependence on the U.S.

But Canadians should not dismiss the rest as just Trump being Trump.

Canada is in a serious trade confrontation with the country that buys roughly three-quarters of our exports.
