COSTI joined agencies from across the GTA at this year's Refugee Cup Soccer Tournament at Eglinton Flats today. The team consisted of staff and clients from the Peel Reception Centre. Now in its sixth year, the tournament has become a meaningful tradition for the settlement and refugee sector — using soccer to help newcomers build community, form connections and find a sense of belonging as they navigate the challenges of starting over in a new country.

Beyond the friendly rivalry on the field, the tournament reflects the collaborative spirit that defines the sector: agencies that often work independently coming together around a shared commitment to client wellbeing. These moments of connection matter as much as the services themselves, reinforcing that integration is ultimately less about logistics and programming and more about belonging and community.
