Its signature guttural exhaust note is the result of a cross-plane crankshaft and a specialized firing order, producing the heavy low-end rumble traditionally associated with classic muscle cars. Mercedes-AMG pairs this with a “hot-V” configuration, positioning the twin-scroll turbochargers inside the valley between the cylinder banks rather than on the outside. This compact design minimizes exhaust routing, drastically reduces turbo lag, and amplifies the raw, aggressive V8 bark under heavy load.
