Hundreds of former Iranian military conscripts have reportedly been deemed inadmissible to Canada under current immigration rules, according to CBC News.
Many affected individuals say their military service was mandatory under Iranian law and that they had no choice but to serve. The federal government says its measures are intended to prevent people linked to the Iranian regime from entering Canada.
The story is raising questions about where Canada should draw the line between national security concerns and the treatment of individuals who were required to complete compulsory military service.

🚨 B.C. CONSERVATIVE CAUCUS ROCKED BY ANOTHER MAJOR DEPARTURE
Claire Rattée, MLA for Skeena, is now the 10th B.C. Conservative MLA to leave the caucus since August, amid growing internal tensions surrounding party leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay.
Rattée says she was among at least 10 MLAs who signed a letter calling for Findlay’s resignation and accused the leader of trying to remove members of her own caucus.
Findlay, meanwhile, says Claire Rattée, John Rustad and Trevor Halford are no longer members of the Conservative caucus, saying the party needs to focus on preparing for a possible election.
The developments come as B.C. politics faces the possibility of an early election.

Alberta’s political map could look very different in future elections.
As Calgary, Edmonton and other communities continue to grow, proposed changes to electoral boundaries could create new ridings and reshape existing ones.
That means some Albertans could eventually vote in a different riding and have a different MLA representing their community.
With Alberta’s two major provincial parties—the UCP and Alberta NDP—competing for support, these boundary changes could become an important part of the province’s political future.
What do you think matters most when drawing Alberta’s future electoral boundaries—population growth, community connections, or something else?
