Artful creations in wood. As an artist, nature remains at the heart of my work, reflecting my love and fascination with the natural world. Fisher. How lucky am I?

I was born and raised on the west coast of Canada. From farming in the Fraser Valley, to living on a vintage 1933 vessel on Quadra Island, to finally settling more than 30 years ago in Qualicum Beach to raise my family; my love of the outdoors as always been a constant. I'd wanted to study art from an early age, but life has an amazing way of helping you put other priorities in its place. Fast forward many decades, to when I had the privilege of meeting world-renowned woodturner / carver Douglas J. To my good fortune, I had the distinct honour of working under his guidance for more than two years prior to his retirement. This incredible opportunity to learn from a master has opened an exciting, new chapter for me as an artist. Working with my hands to create and release an image that tells a story in wood is an exciting process.

Design area is now turned and ready for a design. This burl pce was collected and stored in 1950s before we bought it and prepped the surfaces. Very dry and surprisingly hard for cedar, and has some beautiful grain patterns and figure.

This 100 cm burl slab will be an interesting turning project. I’m hoping to turn a simple area to accommodate another design of Jeremy’s. A lovely piece of wood with some nice flame figure we’re hoping will reveal itself.

This 43 cm (17 inch) red cedar bowl I turned a while back finally has a design curtesy of Jeremy Humpherville, indigenous artist extraordinaire. The design has been burned in by hand.

A new design from Jeremy Humpherville. Incorporating some beautiful west coast aspects and design. Sun, mountains , trees, Orca. A substantial piece at 31 inches long and 3 inches thick, featuring impressive maple burl grain. A very challenging and exciting design.

This Hummingbird piece is coming along nicely. Slowly adding subtle colour tones, which will darken with final finish.

Adding layers of colour with Sanding bring the piece to life and start to highlight the beautiful grain patterns in this figured maple.

The design edges are slowly getting touched up and back ground texture is finished . Starting to add ink and colour to this piece.
