NAIL DAY at Feeds and Needs, Windsor, tomorrow, Saturday the 19th!! 10am-12pm 🥳 Proceeds going to 9 Lives Cat Recuse.

If you don’t have any critters needing a trim but would love a way to support the rescue, come on down and listen to my 11 year old who is a big lover of kitties and will have a 9 Lives donation jar while he creates some entertainment for us all.

Did you know 9 Lives work with local veterinarians to arrange spaying and neutering upward of 1000 feral cats in our community per year!! WILD accomplishment! Were you also aware the SPCA spay and neuter government funding was cut this summer? So now is the perfect time to come on down and support this great volunteer based group and help this young aspiring artist gain experience while he supports a cause he knows makes a difference in our home town!!

Taylor and I can’t wait to see all our regulars and meet some new furry friends! We have a new trick up our sleeves for any kitties that might be feeling a wee spicy 🤭.

Some Enrichment Park History. 🥰 Did you know this park was opened in loving memory of dear Capo? Bet if you have met me in person and mentioned the park you have had to hear about it 😝. He was the original king the dirt pile! And the sweet boy who simply didn’t get along with every dog he came across… do you like every human you meet? Lol

Though many social dogs enjoy the park, we wanted to provide a safe space for owners to bond with their dogs no matter what the social preferences. In one of these photos Capo is herding a goat into the barn (now the mutt hut at the park) at dusk.

Happy Cappy was not only sensitive to meeting new dogs but also surfaces, which is why you can will find many of the obstacles are made of natural materials that a dog would typically find in nature.

Capo was the pillar and foundation of the dog training journey at Pivot Point, being the first dog to live on property. Which is why the Park is set up to be an ideal place to train without distractions, to master your skills, so you can successfully implement them in real life situations.

I love every single photo people message of their dog enjoying the park, it gives me great joy seeing our old man’s fav spot being used for good. Feel free to drop a photo in the comments of your pup rocking the park 🥰

As a trainer, Brett was always a huge advocate for muzzle training. He viewed it as protection for your dog first and secondly for other dogs and humans. He would say that once your dog learns a puncture can get them out of a situation, a learned behavior can form; therefore, he believed in taking the proactive step to train. When you know you're putting your dog in a stressful situation, you can protect them. With no breed limits, he would include this in his puppy training. Human management involves being proactive, not reactive.

I like to think of it this way: if your dog is injured and going into the vet clinic, say it has a cut and needs stitches, it's already upset. The vet having to muzzle the dog for the first time is going to add even more stress. However, if the dog is already familiar with having a muzzle on its face, it's one less thing to worry about, and it gives the vet clinic the safety to do their job with ease.

He also always believed muzzle training should be a slow, gentle, simple process for success.

Today, I know he would be proud of me and Xenia. I've been working with her on this new muzzle from Muzzle Movement for the past month; this was her first time wearing it for a longer period at her annual appointment. She did amazing. You can see in the photo her eyes are wide, her ears are back; the vet clinic is stressful for this livestock guard dog.

Thank you, Avon Animal Hospital, for always taking the time to make our non-social dogs feel as comfortable as possible. Back-door guest as best 🤭. Xenia made it through the check-up without a bark or grumble.

Also, I can't say enough about this brand of muzzle (muzzle movement); it's measured to fit her face perfectly. The typical ones seen in pet stores didn't get a good fit for her wide head. Lacked comfort nose guards. It gives her the space to have a full stress yawn, a removable scavenger guard so she can drink and get those reward treats. Hands down the most ethical on the market I’ve come across! (Brett would likely be less proud I started her training with hot dogs, but Capos' favorite treat was a Cheesie, so I mentally let it slide) 🤣❤️🐾❤️ Muzzle Movement
