One of the most underrated spots in Prague, right next to Wenceslas Square! ⛪🌸

It's quiet, hidden, and honestly feels unreal compared to the crowds just steps away ✨

Even tourists walking past the National Museum have no idea it's there, a true Prague hidden gem 💎

The Church of Our Lady of the Snows is a stunning Baroque and Gothic church with one of the tallest interiors in Prague, and right behind it hides a peaceful garden most people never find 🌷

Both are completely free to enter 🙌🏻

📍 Church of Our Lady of the Snows + Franciscan Garden

The atmosphere here is just magical 🥰 I love this place so much! 🙌🏻

1618: Czechs threw 3 men out a window at Prague Castle. 8 million people ended up dead. 👇😰🪟

This is the true story of the Defenestration of Prague, the moment that sparked the Thirty Years' War, one of the deadliest religious wars in European history. 🇨🇿

Czech nobles were furious. The Habsburg king was shutting down their churches and breaking promises about religious freedom.

So they stormed Prague Castle, grabbed his officials, and threw them out a window.

A 21-meter drop. Somehow, they survived.

Within two years, all of Europe was at war. 🇪🇺⚔️

🇨🇿🦫 Where can you see River Rats in Prague?

One of the most frequent questions I get from people travelling to Prague is: "Where can I see the river rats everyone keeps talking about?"

First thing to clear up: they are not beavers.

Some tourists call them "river rats," but they're actually nutrias, big, furry, semi-aquatic rodents that took over Prague's waterways. They look like an oversized guinea pig crossed with a beaver, which is exactly why people mix them up. Real beavers do live in Czechia too, but they're shy and rarely seen. If you spot something waddling around in daylight with a rat-like tail, that's a nutria.

So where do you actually find them?

Your best bet is Cihelná Park, right on the riverbank near Charles Bridge. It's also one of the best spots in the city to photograph Charles Bridge, so even if the nutrias are hiding, the visit is worth it.

If they're not out at Cihelna, head to Střelecký ostrov instead. It's right in the middle of the river off Legion Bridge and one of the most reliable nutria-watching spots in Prague. Grab a bench, get a drink from the riverside bar, and give it a few minutes.

A few things worth knowing:

Don't feed them. Nutrias aren't originally from here. They were brought to Czechoslovakia in the 1920s for fur farming, and when the fur market collapsed, many were released or escaped. With no natural predators, they spread along the rivers and never left. Prague authorities actively discourage feeding them today. They can carry disease and have been known to snap if they feel cornered, so admire them from a distance.

Seeing them isn't guaranteed. They are wild animals. They roam freely, so they might simply be elsewhere along the Vltava River that day.

I've marked both spots, plus 200+ of the best places and hidden gems most tourists never discover, on the map in my Prague City Guide, which also includes ready-to-use itineraries so you're not stuck planning everything yourself.

It's everything you need, already done for you, all in one place.

Never order Coca-Cola in Prague. ❌😳 Do this instead 👇

Czechoslovakia couldn't get real 🇺🇸 American Coca-Cola in the 20th century, so scientists invented their own version using local herbs instead 🌿

It became a national obsession, and this piece of Czech history is still on tap all over Prague and Czechia today 🇨🇿

Skip the Coca-Cola, order Kofola instead 🥤

📍 Try it at Tiskárna Národní, right in Prague's city centre

💾 Save this for your Prague trip and tag the friend who's trying it with you!

This is NOT your average post office 🇨🇿📮

It's over 150 years old. Neo-renaissance building outside, art nouveau paintings inside ✨

Step inside and you'll find a huge glass-covered hall with old murals on the walls and a gallery most tourists never even notice

This used to be the center of a whole underground mail system. Letters were sent across the city through pneumatic tubes 🤯

You can walk in right now completely for free and send a postcard from one of the most beautiful post offices in Europe

📍 Prague Main Post Office, Jindřišská 14
