Cerebral Palsy Warrior Group - Kenya - Washed 🇰🇪

At 1,900m in the shadow of Mt. Kenya, Esther Kariuki founded Ziwa Farm and Mill to create real income for her daughter Shantelle, who has Down syndrome, in a country where people with disabilities are rarely given a place to work.
Word spread, and the local chief connected Ziwa with the Cerebral Palsy Warrior Group - a nearby community of families raising children with cerebral palsy who grow their own coffee. Ziwa now processes and mills that coffee and helps bring it to market, turning one family’s act of care into real economic opportunity for many.

Sookoo Coffee is a family-owned company producing organic, traceable coffee in the high-altitude semi-forest of Guji, southern Ethiopia. Sookoo is owned by Ture Waji , who was managing farms and overseeing production in the region long before Sookoo was founded. Our importer Osito Coffee & Cacao ’s relationship with him goes back a long way.

This 2025 harvest is the third year Osito has bought washed coffee from Sookoo, and the second year we’ve had it in our own portfolio at Vote. We’re very proud to keep roasting coffee from Ture - one of Guji’s most respected producers .
