At the beginning of next year I'll be teaching new painting workshops at boesner in several cities across Germany.
Together we'll explore the beauty of coastal landscapes and paint lighthouses, dunes, sea and light - step by step and with plenty of room for our creativity.

Today, the Wildlife Artist of the Year 2026 exhibition opens at the Mall Galleries in London.
Of course, I would have loved to see my artwork hanging there this year. Instead, I thought I’d share something a little different.
These are a some of my paintings I’ve created over the past few years — including paintings I later entered for WAY, but which were not selected for the final exhibition.
"Beneath Her Protection" being left out this year was certainly disappointing, especially after putting so much of myself into this painting. But looking back at these works, I feel proud of them and of the journey they represent.
Not every painting makes the walls. That doesn’t make the work any less meaningful.

And now I’m curious: which one would you have chosen for the exhibition?
South Africa is a country that is very close to my heart. I was working there during my studies for 1/2 year in 2005 until 2006. During my time there earlier this year I had the opportunity to work closely with wildlife as part of conservation projects – an experience I will never forget.
I came home with thousands of photographs, hours of video footage and countless memories. And, of course, I painted along the way.
Watercolor became the perfect medium to capture the atmosphere, light and character of the incredible wildlife I encountered.
Now I’m bringing a little piece of that journey into Paint Your Heart & Soul 2027 – Around the World Through Art, with two watercolor tutorials inspired by my experiences:

🐆 Wild at Heart: Painting a Cheetah in Golden Light
And that’s just my part of the journey. 27 artists from around the world will share their own styles, techniques and subjects over 50 weeks – offering endless inspiration and the chance to explore something new.

I’m so excited to finally share something very close to my heart with you!
I’m going to be one of the teaching artists for Paint Your Heart & Soul 2027 – Around the World Through Art, a collaborative course hosted by Olga Furman Artist.
For my contribution, I chose South Africa– a country that has touched me deeply.
During my time there, I had the incredible opportunity to work closely with wildlife as part of conservation projects, getting to know some of the animals I love to paint and that are so desperately in need of protection.
I came home with thousands of photographs, hours of video footage and countless unforgettable moments. I also painted along the way – capturing some of those experiences in watercolor.

Honored to receive an Honorable Mention TERAVARNA 14th Animal August International Juried Art Competition 2026 for my artwork "Beneath Her Protection".
The painting depicts the powerful bond between a mother and her calf beneath the waves - a quiet moment of trust, protection and unconditional love.
For me, wildlife art is not only about capturing beauty. It is also about creating a connection with the animals we share this planet with and inspiring greater appreciation for their protection.
What does this artwork make you feel? 💙

This little cove on the Côte d'Azur in the South of France was one of them.
I painted it from a summer memory of my recent vacation - trying to capture the light, the colour and that quiet feeling of being somewhere completely unhurried.
