This aerial image shows where the Amazon Prime Air-branded Boeing 767 ended up after overrunning the runway at Miami International Airport (MIA) on Sunday, September 6.

The aircraft, operating as 21 Air Flight 7598 for Amazon Air, had arrived from San Juan, Puerto Rico, when it failed to stop within the runway area and continued beyond the airport perimeter. It crossed a service roadway and struck multiple vehicles, before coming to rest near an industrial area and bursting into flames.

Five people were killed and five others were injured, including three who were critically injured. Emergency crews responded with more than 60 units as firefighters battled the blaze and a fuel leak.

The NTSB is now leading the investigation. Investigators are examining the aircraft's touchdown point, speed, braking system, mechanical condition, communications and weather/wind conditions as they work to determine why the 767 was unable to stop. Video appears to show the aircraft touching down unusually far along the runway, but investigators have not yet determined the cause.

The investigation is ongoing, and no cause has been established.
