EthSwitch at Global Fintech Fest 2026 🇪🇹

EthSwitch was proud to represent Ethiopia’s digital payments ecosystem at Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai, India, contributing to the panel discussion:

“Digital Public Infrastructure: A Model for Transformation.”

Our Chief Portfolio Officer, Abeneazer Lakew, joined distinguished global leaders to discuss how countries can leverage Digital Public Infrastructure while adapting global models to their own market realities.

The discussion highlighted a principle central to Ethiopia’s journey: Digital Public Infrastructure is not simply about deploying technology. It is about creating trusted, interoperable and inclusive infrastructure that enables an entire ecosystem to innovate and scale.

As Ethiopia’s national payment infrastructure continues to evolve, EthSwitch remains focused on strengthening interoperability, instant payments, digital identity-enabled services, merchant payments and other shared payment capabilities that connect financial institutions, businesses, government and citizens.

The panel also reinforced the importance of local ownership, public-private collaboration and learning across markets. Global experiences provide valuable lessons, but every country must build infrastructure that reflects its own economic, regulatory and institutional realities.
