SAMRI

As a bilingual artist, she is influenced by pentatonic East African sounds and addresses themes of social consequence, the female experience, and vulnerability in her lyrics. Through writing and recording in the San Francisco Bay Area studios and performing in the hot spots of Addis, she has masterfully honed her skills. Her debut, award-nominated album "Sèt" has set a new tone for Ethiopian music with its thought-provoking lyrics and unique stories. The album was preceded by three music videos, and in keeping with her commitment to giving back, Samri has chosen to donate all proceeds from the album to various charitable organizations. Samri holds a BA in Vocal Performance from California State University, Eastbay. She is currently working on a cross-over album to bring her music to a broader audience.
