The Fiji Innovation Hub was honoured to welcome two chiefs of the island of Rotuma, Gagaj Manav and Gagaj Eratauaf, together with Rotuma District Officer Luke Savu and Annie Elizabeth Gukisuva, one of the facilitators of the recent Rotuma Hackathon.
The visit follows the successful Financial Inclusion Maritime Expo in Rotuma, held on 7–8 July 2026, which featured Rotuma’s first-ever Hackathon, delivered through the Fiji Innovation Hub.
The Hackathon brought together 24 participants across six teams to develop innovative, technology-based solutions to challenges facing the island.
During their visit, the delegation toured the Hub and learned more about how it provides a collaborative space for innovators, entrepreneurs and communities to develop ideas into practical solutions. The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss how innovation and entrepreneurship can help address local challenges and create new opportunities for the Rotuman community.
