We are proud to share that OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation was honored with the milestone for Refractive Error Award at the 5th National Coordination Workshop for Eye, Ear and Sensory Functions Health, an event hosted by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in Nigeria.
 
This recognition celebrates our contribution to building sustainable eye care infrastructure that provides communities with access to comprehensive eye examinations and spectacles.
 
As we celebrate this achievement, we also recognize the power of strong partnerships with government and local stakeholders that help ensure everyone, regardless of where they live, has access to vision care.
 

What better way to celebrate than to announce an exciting next step in the collaboration between the OneSight Foundation and the DeptOfHealth&FamilyWelfare-KA

We are proud to share that OneSight is providing protective sunglasses to ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers across Karnataka. These trusted frontline heroes connect underserved populations to ensure last-mile delivery of essential health services.

Asha workers spend countless hours outdoors conducting door-to-door vision screenings and referring patients to ASHA KIRANA Vision Centres for proper diagnosis and treatment.

By helping protect the eye health of these dedicated women, we’re investing in the wellbeing of those who care for others.

At OneSight we empower women.

Somewhere right now, a child is falling behind in school — not because they aren’t capable, but because their myopia is uncorrected.

By 2050, half the world’s population is projected to be living with myopia. But a diagnosis only changes lives when people can actually access care — and for billions, that gap remains wide open.

On the occasion of , we renew our support for global efforts to address myopia as a growing public health challenge. Through free as well as affordable clinics, and permanent care in rural communities, we are working to close the gap, ensuring we not only develop solutions, but that these solutions reach the people who need them most— because good vision means learning better, working and driving safely, staying independent.

We are proud to have marked Labour Day in China by giving back to the people who keep communities moving.​

On 29th April, we distributed OneSight vision care packages including sunglasses and free vision checks to meal delivery riders across the city — workers who spend their days outdoors, exposed to the elements, often without access to basic eye protection. Good vision keeps them safe on the roads, and they deserve it.​

Volunteer Month may be rooted in North America, but the
spirit of service knows no borders — so this month, we’re
celebrating EssilorLuxottica volunteers around the world who
give their time, their skills, and their expertise to bring vision
care to communities that need it most.​

From mobile clinics in France to screenings for the migrant
community in Singapore and tribal community clinics in India
— our volunteers are making good vision a reality on the
ground.​

Because good vision empowers humans. And behind every
pair of glasses, is a person who chose to make it happen.​

Reaching the most remote communities with quality vision care is one of the biggest challenges we face — and one of the most important to solve.

In Zambia, we are working hand in hand with the Ministry of Health to build a system that can truly reach everyone.

66 vision centers are already in place, but distance and access remain key barriers for many communities.

This is where partnership becomes a lever for scale.

By integrating our vision care services into the Ministry’s Flying Doctors initiative, together with the Zambia Air Force, we are extending care beyond fixed locations — bringing services directly to people who would otherwise remain excluded.

At the same time, we are exploring how tele-refraction can further strengthen this model — connecting expertise, optimizing resources, and unlocking new ways to deliver care at scale.

This is not just about reaching more people.

It is about building sustainable solutions that can be replicated, strengthened, and embedded into national systems.

Because access to vision care should not depend on where you live.

Last month, EssilorLuxottica volunteers rallied to provide free eye exams and eyeglasses to people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity in Manchester, UK. This effort was made possible with the support of Simplyhealth and the Manchester Homelessness Partnership.​

In Kenya, access to vision care is changing one community at a time.​

Through our programs, women like Joyce are empowered to bring vision care directly to Yala-Siaya County, reaching people where it matters most.​

And this is just the beginning.​

With the launch of the WHO SPECS 2030 initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and WHO, we are taking a decisive step to accelerate access to eye care at scale.​

Because good vision doesn’t just change what people see. It keeps children in school, supports adults in their daily lives, and helps older adults stay independent.​

It empowers people.​
