NGC 2283 — a galaxy observed by Hubble Space Telescope

On 25 September 2026, NASA/ESA’s Hubble Space Telescope pointed towards the nearby galaxy.

The observation was part of HST Cycle 31 programme 17502, a larger study investigating gas, star formation and feedback in nearby galaxies using Hubble, JWST and ALMA.

Image processing: AI-assisted enhancement has been applied for outreach purposes to improve contrast, clarity and presentation. It does not add astronomical data or represent additional observations. The underlying scientific data are from the original Hubble observation.

Captured by the Hubble Space Telescope on 15 September 2026, this beautiful view of Saturn shows the planet and its iconic rings in striking detail.

The observation was made using Hubble's Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) with the F631N filter, as part of the Outer Planet Atmospheres Legacy (OPAL) programme.

OPAL is a long-term Hubble programme designed to monitor the outer planets and study changes in their atmospheres and appearance over time.

And importantly for us at A.U.R.A. Command:
There is no artificial enhancement here.
This is real observational data from Hubble. No AI-generated Saturn. No manufactured detail. Just an extraordinary planet, its rings, and a telescope doing exactly what it was built to do.

🪐 Raw Hubble Images of Neptune

These are raw/quick-look images of Neptune captured by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope on 1 September 2026.

The observations were made with Hubble’s WFC3/UVIS camera as part of the NEPTUNE-MAPS programme, led by Dr Amy Simon of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.
Part of Hubble’s long-running Outer Planet Atmospheres Legacy (OPAL) programme, these observations help scientists monitor Neptune’s atmosphere and its changing cloud and weather patterns.

On 5 August 2026, a SpaceX Falcon 9 upper stage impacted the lunar surface near Einstein Crater.

South Korea's Danuri lunar orbiter captured the region before and after the impact, allowing scientists to see the changes to the lunar surface and the resulting ejecta.

🚀 A.U.R.A. Command Founder and Operations Director Anthony Hughes was proud to be part of the Starchaser Industries team exhibiting the Skybolt rocket.

It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with members of the public, discuss UK rocketry and spaceflight, and help inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and explorers.

Supporting outreach and sharing the excitement of space exploration remains a key part of A.U.R.A. Command's mission.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to learn more about Skybolt and the future of British spaceflight.

The Hubble Space Telescope has observed Target DW0309M4101 as part of Programme 18061 – Hubble Census of Nearby Satellites, led by Dr Michael Gordon Jones (California Institute of Technology).

Observation Details
• Observation Date: 13 July 2026 – 01:02 UTC
• Release Date: 13 July 2026 – 03:12 UTC

The first image is the original Hubble quick-look observation released through the Mikulski Archive for Space Telescopes (MAST).

The second image has been AI-enhanced for outreach and educational purposes, using the original observation as its foundation to improve visibility of the galaxy's structure, dust lanes, and star-forming regions. No scientific data have been added or altered—the enhancement is intended solely to help communicate the underlying features to a wider audience.

A New Milestone on Mars

This extraordinary image, captured by NASA's HiRISE camera aboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, shows Perseverance as a tiny blue speck on the surface of Mars (highlighted by the yellow circle).

The rover has now completed the equivalent of a full marathon—42.195 km (26.2 miles)—across Jezero Crater, reaching the milestone in just over five years of exploration.
The dark lines visible across the landscape are the rover's tracks, marking thousands of metres of scientific exploration as Perseverance searches for evidence of ancient habitable environments and collects samples for future return to Earth.

Sometimes the biggest achievements appear incredibly small from orbit.

NGC 4402 — Seen by the James Webb Space Telescope

This incredible view of galaxy NGC 4402 is based on raw observational data captured by JWST and enhanced for public outreach.

Located around 55 million light-years away in the Virgo Cluster, NGC 4402 is an edge-on spiral galaxy surrounded by an immense sea of stars and distant galaxies.

What may look like image “grain” is actually countless individual stars captured in infrared light by one of the most advanced telescopes ever built.

This Hubble Space Telescope observation targeted the distant Trans-Neptunian Object (TNO) 2014 EA52 during a programme searching for moons around mid-sized icy worlds beyond Neptune.

The field is filled with: • distant galaxies
• tracking streaks
• cosmic-ray artefacts
• and thousands of background stars

During the observation, Hubble experienced a guide-star acquisition issue but continued operating in a degraded-yet-functional tracking mode — a good reminder that even one of humanity’s greatest observatories still has to wrestle with real engineering limitations in orbit.
