Team member Steph has just returned from her recce on the Tour of the Vanoise in France.

"Last week I walked 6 of the stages from our 10 stage Tour of the Vanoise and I can't recommend it enough! Half an hour in to the trip we had already seen 2 marmots and 3 eagles and I knew it was going to be a good week!

"One of the best parts for me was how quiet it felt - we often had long stretches of the trail to ourselves. The National Park is well managed and there is an abundance of wildlife, including many marmots, weasels, chamois and eagles. In mid July the wild flowers were in full bloom, bringing lots of colour to the landscape. The glacier views were incredible, and there were beautiful alpine lakes and mountain panoramas around almost every corner.

"The mountain huts were warm and welcoming, complete with an impressive selection of hut crocs, and plenty of delicious local cheese to refuel on. We also enjoyed a nice mix of traditional huts and comfortable hotels, with a particularly memorable evening in Val d'Isère.

"We offer a longer 10-stage circuit or a shorter 6-stage circuit which is a popular hike in its own right, also known as the Tour des Glaciers. Please get in touch if you have any questions :) "

Beatrix Potter's passion for conservation and the Lake District has ensured the survival of this special landscape.

On our Lake District Tour trip, you can explore this area in a magnificent circuit of England's largest National Park and home to the highest peak in England: Scafell Pike (978m).

Our route links the charming valleys of Buttermere, Ennerdale, Wasdale, Langdale and Glenridding in a circular route in 6 days.

We stay in comfy B&Bs, Inns and small hotels, making for a comfy week-long walking trip. Find village pubs in the Northern English style for good food and cosy evenings.
