🎓 Back to Exeter in 2021…

A little bit of Exeter history from my camera roll - Exeter College graduates making their way along Queen Street on graduation day. ❤️

It’s one of those occasions when the city centre suddenly feels completely different, with graduates, families and plenty of proud faces everywhere.

Five years later, I thought this deserved another look.

📍 The Exeter Alphabet - F is for Forum 🎓

For F I’ve headed up to the University of Exeter’s Streatham Campus and one of its most recognisable modern buildings, The Forum.

The £48 million development opened in 2012 and was designed by WilkinsonEyre to create a new centrepiece at the heart of the campus.

On 2 May 2012, the Forum was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee visit to the University.

But the feature that really stands out is above your head. 👀

The sweeping timber gridshell roof covers more than 3,200m² and is one of the largest freeform timber gridshell roofs in the UK.

Today the Forum brings together the library, learning spaces, student services, shops, cafés and other facilities - somewhere generations of Exeter students will know very well!
