Hamilton Junction
A consciously unprototypical model railway set in Era 8 in the Strathclyde Region. No rivet counters, gate keepers or nit pickers welcome.
Two sprinters and a slate train; satisfactory for a Sunday service? Settle in for a slow crawl past the depot while the suburban traffic speeds by 🐢🐇
Platform still isn't fixed. Shortage of construction materials appears not to be the problem.
Platform one at Burnbank is closed for repairs, so all the through traffic is being sent round platform two instead. Which is nice, since it gives us a rare view of trains running towards us through the crossover and straight on past the bays, as this RF 56 moving some empty aggregate hoppers demonstrates ↘️➡️↗️
Seems the lads at the ore terminal weren't too sure how to fill the new PTAs and may have overdone it a little the first time round! The 37s are away for engine rebuilds after blowing a few gaskets attempting to haul nearly 2000 tonnes of ore; let's see how the 20s cope with a (hopefully) more plausible load level 😁
We haven't seen a lot of night running lately, but that's easily fixed. Here's a Super Sprinter, not from the usual SPT rosta, running a late evening service through a moody Burnbank station.
They're still looking pretty clean, but the new iron ore hoppers are being put to good use supplying the steel works. Here's a pair of metals sector 37s, one heading in with a full load, while the other runs back with the empties.
Somewhat delayed by all the rerouted revenue traffic, 31514 returns to the depot with the bolster wagons stacked with old rails, pipes and other scrap collected from around the area. Background music courtesy of a BR Blue 37 on sleeper duties.
With the engineering works ongoing, we're still getting some unusual traffic coming down the line this weekend. Here's a petroleum sector liveried 31 working a rake of Shell/BP TTAs, presumably on its way from Grangemouth. And there's a ScotRail pull-push in the background, but that's hardly unusual around here ⛽
