We're delighted that Active Wirral has been shortlisted in the Best Community and Neighbourhood Initiative category at the APSE Service Awards for our innovative Kit Link scheme.

Kit Link helps people across Wirral access sport and physical activity by giving residents the opportunity to donate, recycle and reuse sports equipment and clothing. With collection points across council leisure centres, Wirral Watersports Centre and local schools, the scheme is helping remove barriers to participation while reducing waste.

Since December 2024, Kit Link has: ✅ Redistributed more than 6,300 items ✅ Generated an estimated £93,700 in social value ✅ Saved an estimated 14.2 tonnes of carbon through equipment reuse during 2025-26
