I’ve been taking my textured style in a slightly different direction…
‘Beached’ is a Scottish coastal scene with a white rowing boat on the sand, iridescent turquoise and blue sea, distant hills and plenty of texture in the sea grasses at the front.
I’ve added a few touches of gold leaf too, which catch the light nicely.
It’s 100 × 50cm and is now available in my online gallery -

I said I’d keep posting this one as it progresses. It’s still very rough and some major elements are still to be added - but it’s getting there… just really slowly!
Things will speed up a bit now my commissions are out of the way.
Going to do a few progress videos with this one so you can see it develop. I’ve been working on a few other pieces, so I haven’t got quite as far as I’d hoped, but there’s more texture added now and I’ve just started playing around with some of the colours.
Still early days, but I thought I’d share the process as this one develops.
A very early look at something new I’m working on.
At the moment it’s just a rough pencil sketch on a long canvas, but this one is going to take the textured series in a slightly different direction.
I’m introducing a subtle landscape element this time, while keeping the texture and flowers that have become such a big part of this series.
I’m not going to give too much away yet… but hopefully it’ll start to make sense as it develops.
More soon.

Just wanted to say and huge hello to all my new followers. I really appreciate you taking the time to visit my page, and I hope you enjoy seeing some of my new paintings as they’re added. 😊
You can see even more at drtgallery.uk - and, you can claim a discount too.
For reasons that haven’t been explained, my Etsy shop has been suspended! Hopefully they will give me an explanation at some point, but in the meantime I’ve had to remove that link. 😡
Everything is still available through my website.
UPDATE: Etsy are being incredibly unhelpful and refusing to tell me the reason. And, as so few of my sales happen on Etsy, I’ve decided to abandon them completely.
I know I’m not the only person this has happened to, they need to get their act together.

I found a frame I’d bought a while back and never used, and thought it might work as a smaller version of the textured floral paintings I’ve been doing recently.
Four red poppies, lots of texture, and plenty of little hints of other wildflowers hidden amongst the marks and colours.
It’s funny how something can start with something as simple as rediscovering an old frame.

These paintings all came from the same idea really… creating something that feels calm.
Lots of texture, layers, handmade details and colours that change as the light moves across them.
I thought it would be nice to put them all together in one short video.
