Alexander & Mona’s Mansion
Once belonging to a very wealthy couple, this huge mansion now sits abandoned, slowly falling into decay.
Alexander was a major figure in Britain’s shipping industry, spending much of his career with P&O. After serving in the Royal Navy during WWII, including the Normandy landings and Arctic convoys, he joined the British India Steam Navigation Company in 1947.
Alexander married Mona in the 1960s and together they had two sons and a daughter. After an 11-year battle with cancer, Alexander sadly passed away in 2005, he was determined to reach his 80th birthday which he did and passed away 12 days later at home.
Mona continued living in the mansion alone until in later life she employed a live in carer named Kathrine. During this time Kathrine accumulated substantial debts registered to the mansion’s address.
Mona sadly passed away in 2024, leaving the enormous property behind. In 2025, the mansion was purchased by developers for around £2 million and now sits empty.

Louise’s House🧶
Louise lived here alone, becoming a recluse. Inside, her home was frozen in time, filled with old retro toys, books and wool for knitting.
When neighbours realised they hadn’t seen Louise for several weeks and noticed she wasn’t even putting her bins out, they became concerned and called the police to carry out a welfare check.
Sadly, Louise was found deceased in her bed upstairs.
With no family to return to the property, the house was simply left behind. Now, years of neglect have taken their toll, and Louise’s once-private world slowly rots away around the belongings she left behind.
Traveller Site
Once run by the council, this former traveller site was given notice in 2017, with residents told they had three years to leave. The land was later sold to a developer, but instead of being redeveloped, it was left abandoned.
Since then, the site has suffered from repeated fires, vandalism and extensive fly-tipping, leaving behind the remains of what was once a lived-in community.

Countryside Mansion
Unfortunately, it looked like renovations had started here before being abandoned and left unfinished. Still some beautiful original features remain inside, with stunning countryside views, a tennis court, swimming pool and even a gatehouse at the entrance.

Carehome
This Carehome once provided accommodation and support for elderly residents, including those living with dementia. Built around the 1980s and run by the council, the home served the community for many years before becoming outdated for modern care standards. The building eventually closed in 2023 as part of plans to replace older care facilities, leaving the once busy home empty and awaiting its future.

Florists House in the Forest💐
Once home to Christine, a well-known local florist, who lived here with her partner and daughter.
Around the house, traces of Christine’s florist work were still left behind, giving a glimpse into the life she once had here.
It’s believed the family left around 2011 to go on a cruise and never came back.
Over a decade later, the house remains frozen in time, with belongings left behind and nature slowly taking over.
