One of the best things about Game Jams is that they spark creativity in ways you might not expect.
Iโve shared some videos of past winners, and trust me, these projects are impressive.
They show that no matter where you are on your coding journey, thereโs always room to create something amazing.
I love seeing how our members use Game Jams as a chance to experiment, learn, and grow.
Itโs a great reminder that coding isnโt just about logic and problem-solvingโitโs also about having fun and bringing your ideas to life.
So, if youโre looking for some inspiration, check out the winnersโ video and get ready to join in on the next one!

Hey Scratchers and parents! Want to know how to create cool scrolling backgrounds in Scratch? Iโm Griffpatch, and I canโt wait to show you how! ๐ฎ In this tutorial, weโll cover how to loop background sprites using the math mod operator, plus introduce parallax and vertical scrollingโoh, and an awesome animating Scratch Cat walk cycle! ๐ฑ๐จ
This is a simple but super useful technique weโll use in many future projects, including the upcoming titled scrolling tutorial series. ๐

Today I'm stepping away from coding for a moment to share something I think is genuinely worth your time.
One of the things I love most about teaching coding is seeing children realize they're capable of more than they imagined.
Every child learns differently.
Every child deserves the opportunity to succeed with the right support.
That's why I'm happy to share the work of my friend Tara.
From July 13-16, she's hosting the ๐๐ฅ๐๐ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ผ๐ผ๐น ๐๐๐๐ถ๐๐บ ๐ฆ๐๐บ๐บ๐ถ๐, where leading experts will share practical ideas for supporting autistic children through communication, play, sensory strategies, regulation, AAC, inclusion, and more.
Today, 1 in 31 children is autistic, making this a resource that could benefit many families, educators, and communities.
Whether you're a parent, teacher, homeschooler, therapist, or simply want to better understand and support autistic children, I encourage you to take a look.
๐๏ธ Tickets are completely FREE.

And if someone comes to mind while you're reading this, please consider sharing this post with them. You never know how much one recommendation can help another family.

I love coding solo, but you know whatโs even better? Working with others to create something awesome! Whether youโre teaming up on a game, sharing your code for feedback, or helping someone debug, coding is all about collaboration. ๐ป We get stronger when we work together, learn from each other, and share our creations. What projects are you working on with friends?

Iโve been looking back at some of the awesome projects that have come out of our Game Jams, and itโs always so inspiring.
Whatโs great about these competitions is that theyโre open to everyoneโwhether youโve just started coding or youโre already a pro.
Itโs not about perfection; itโs about pushing yourself, trying new things, and seeing where your creativity takes you.
Iโve shared some winnersโ videos to give you a little motivation for the month ahead.
Watch how our members turned their ideas into incredible games, and think about what you could create in the next Game Jam.
Itโs your chance to be part of something fun and show off your skills!

Hey Scratchers and parents! Want to build a fast-paced space shooter in Scratch? This fun three-part series is based on the classic arcade game Asteroids, but with a twistโLemons! ๐ In Part 1, weโll code player movement and laser firing to set the stage for the exciting parts to come!
In future episodes, weโll tackle enemy lemons, collisions, splitting lemons, and some awesome explosion flashes and screen shake! ๐ฅ
Wondering why Lemons? Well, theyโve achieved interstellar capability and are trying to take over the universe. We need those lasers to fight back! ๐ซ

This summer, kids can do more than play games โ they can build one.
Inside Griffpatch Academy, weโre creating Moonleaf: a brand-new Scratch tutorial series where young coders build their own large scrolling platform adventure step by step.
Theyโll create a mysterious game world with platforming, enemies, hazards, sword-swinging action, atmosphere, effects, and plenty of room for their own ideas.
Itโs all-new Griffpatch content, created specially for the Summer Program, and designed to turn summer screen time into something creative, structured, and genuinely exciting.
Kids can build along with Griffpatch, share their progress, get help from the Academy community, and finish with a game theyโll be proud to play and show off.
The adventure starts now.
