📚✏️ Back-to-School Success Starts with Community!
Today, I had the pleasure of joining the DeKalb Community Cabinet for our annual Back-to-School Supply Drive during our monthly breakfast.
My sincere appreciation goes to the Honorable Stan Watson and the Honorable Howard Mosby for their vision in creating the DeKalb Community Cabinet. Their leadership has built a wonderful tradition of bringing community leaders together on the first Saturday of every month to serve DeKalb County.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated school supplies and supported this effort. Because of your generosity, students across our community will begin the school year with the tools they need to learn, grow, and succeed.
It was also an honor to welcome Dr. Sauce, Interim Superintendent of the DeKalb County School District, who shared encouraging remarks about the upcoming school year and the importance of continuing to work together on behalf of our children.
As you look through these photos, you’ll see what community looks like—neighbors, leaders, educators, and volunteers coming together with one purpose: investing in the next generation.
When we support our students, we strengthen our schools. When we strengthen our schools, we strengthen our communities.
Strong Communities. Stronger Families.

Juneteenth 2026.
It's Election Day! I made this post yesterday on TikTok. However, it's information that may be helpful today. Do you know where to go to vote? Go to mvp.sos.ga.gov to find out where to go and get a sample ballot. The polls close at 7:00 p.m.
Civics Corner: Can a Newly Elected Governor Veto a Law Signed by a Previous Governor?
Good question — and the answer is no.
A governor’s veto power only applies before a bill becomes law. Once legislation is signed into law (or becomes law without a signature), it is officially state law and a future governor cannot later veto it after taking office.
A new governor who disagrees with an existing law has other options:
• Work with the General Assembly to repeal or amend it
• Sign new legislation that changes it
• Challenge it in court if constitutional issues exist
• Adjust agency implementation when the law allows discretion
Understanding how government works matters because elections determine leadership, but they do not automatically erase laws already on the books.
