It was his birthday, but instead of waiting for people to give him presents, this three-year-old had presents ready for three men who had no idea what was coming.
Every week, he watched the same garbage truck come through his neighborhood.
He knew the workers.
They waved at him. He watched them do their job. And over time, he had learned that there were three of them.
So when his third birthday came around, he remembered them.
He stood outside waiting for the truck, holding a small gift in his hands.
His mom was right behind him, carrying two more.
Because he didn't want to leave anyone out.
When the garbage truck finally pulled up, one of the workers noticed the little boy and came over.
The boy walked up and handed him his gift.
Then he turned around, ran back to his mom, grabbed another one, and brought it over for the second worker.
Then he did the same thing for the third.
Three workers.
Three gifts.
And he was only three years old.
One of the workers picked him up and asked, "What's today?"
The little boy smiled and answered, "It's my birthday. I'm three."
You could see the workers' reaction change.
This little boy had spent his own birthday thinking about people who came to his neighborhood every week.
Then they asked him the question every birthday child wants to hear:
"What do you want for your birthday?"
He quietly told them he wanted Rubble from Paw Patrol.
And one of the workers held him close and told him, "I got you. I'm going to get you Rubble."
The little boy came outside wanting to make three garbage collectors feel special.
But in the end, they made his birthday unforgettable too.
He's only three years old, but this moment shows how something as simple as remembering someone can mean so much.
