Today, we celebrate , a reminder of our shared history, resilience, and collective responsibility as Africans.

Across the continent, millions of children and vulnerable people still face violence, exploitation, trafficking, and abuse, often in silence. As we reflect on the vision of unity and progress for Africa, we must also commit ourselves to building communities where safety, dignity, and justice are realities for all.

At Abuse Relief Corps Ghana, we believe that protecting children and strengthening families is part of building the Africa we want.

Through collaboration with communities, law enforcement, social services, and partners, we continue working toward a future where every child can grow free from fear and exploitation.

Africa’s strength is not only in its resources or history, but in how we protect and uplift one another.

Happy Africa Day.

As March Comes to a Close…

This month has once again highlighted difficult but important truths about child protection in Ghana.

Across different cases and reports, one pattern remains clear, abuse often happens within spaces of trust. Homes, communities, and relationships that should be safe can sometimes become the very places where harm occurs.

Another reality is becoming harder to ignore: The growing link between sexual abuse and digital exploitation.

Today, harm is not only experienced in the moment, it can be recorded, stored, and used to further silence victims. This changes the nature of both the abuse and the response required.

At the same time, the systems responsible for protection, law enforcement, social welfare, and the courts, continue to carry the responsibility of responding effectively, often under pressure and with limited resources.

As we move into a new month, the focus must remain on:
• strengthening early reporting and community awareness
• improving coordination across agencies
• ensuring survivor-centred support throughout the justice process
• and adapting to the evolving realities of online exploitation

Because child protection is not defined by moments.

It is defined by consistency.

Some of the most difficult cases we handle don’t start with violence.

They start with trust.

A child new to a community.
A familiar face offering help.
A moment that seems harmless.

And then, everything changes.

In our work, we continue to see how quickly vulnerability can be exploited, especially for children who are unfamiliar with their environment or simply trying to find their way.

This is why community awareness matters.

Parents, guardians, teachers, and community members all play a role in noticing, guiding, and protecting.

Because prevention does not begin at the point of harm, it begins with information, attention, and presence.

At Abuse Relief Corps, we remain committed to supporting survivors, working with law enforcement, and strengthening the systems that protect children.

But beyond intervention, we must keep having the difficult conversations that help stop these situations before they happen.

Protecting children is a shared responsibility.

International Women’s Day 2026

Today we recognize the strength, resilience, and contributions of women and girls everywhere.

At Abuse Relief Corps, our work reminds us every day that empowering women and protecting girls is essential to building safe and thriving communities. Too many women and girls still face sexual and gender-based violence, exploitation, and barriers to justice.

On this International Women’s Day, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting survivors, strengthening protection systems, and working alongside partners to ensure that every woman and girl can live in safety, dignity, and freedom.

When women and girls are protected, communities grow stronger.

Ghana @ 69: Freedom Must Mean Safety for Every Child

Today, as Ghana marks 69 years of independence, we celebrate the courage and vision that brought freedom to our nation. But independence is not only about history, it is also about the kind of society we continue to build.

True freedom means that every child can grow up safe from abuse, exploitation, and violence. As an organization working to combat sexual exploitation, trafficking, and sexual and gender-based violence, we believe protecting children is part of safeguarding the future of our nation.

Because a truly free Ghana is one where every child is protected.

🇬🇭 Happy 69th Independence Day, Ghana.

ARC February in Focus

February was a month of sustained operational response and systems strengthening in the protection of children.

During the month, Abuse Relief Corps (ARC), working in partnership with Lantern Rescue, supported police investigations into 13 new cases involving defilement, coerced abortion, online sexual exploitation, and human and child trafficking.

These interventions resulted in:
• 13 victims rescued
• 11 suspects arrested
• 11 prosecutions opened
• All cases currently progressing through the courts

Beyond direct case response, the team continued strengthening Ghana’s child protection systems. We participated in the National Online Safety Summit and supported the implementation training of the Katalyst platform at the Ghana Police Service Cyber Crime Unit, enhancing investigative capacity in online child exploitation cases.

Throughout the month, our work included arrest coordination, medical and forensic support, court accompaniment, docket follow-ups, and survivor-centred aftercare.

Every number represents a child protected, a case pursued, and a system strengthened.
