Bold as Lion Experiencing God's Power

During yesterday’s service the climax of the Women’s Ministry Celebration our church’s Chief Usher quietly whispered to me, “Elder, please come with me, you need to see this.” I obliged and followed him to the side of the church, away from the attention of many, where I met one of our members holding two beautifully wrapped gifts.
She humbly shared that she wanted to honor the oldest Deaconess in the church and our Pastor’s wife in celebration of Mother’s Day. I was deeply touched and pleasantly surprised by her thoughtfulness, kindness, and heart of appreciation.
Moments like these remind us that love, honor, and gratitude still thrive among us. May God richly bless her for such a beautiful gesture.

In Southern Volta, when a husband or wife is bereaved, one of the most touching moments of commiseration comes when the surviving spouse’s partner arrives in a grand entourage of relatives. They come bearing gifts of love and support money, foodstuffs, gunpowder, drinks, and other items while singing songs of hope, comfort, and solidarity.
The gifts are respectfully received at the high table and publicly announced, often drawing admiration and applause from all gathered. It is more than a presentation; it is a powerful symbol that no one grieves alone.
As tradition demands, the bereaved spouse then dances with the partner who brought the gifts, signifying acceptance, gratitude, and unity in the face of loss.
Indeed, it is a beautiful sight to behold where culture turns sorrow into strength, and community becomes healing.
