Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, one of the leading contenders in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries, has surprised many with a generous donation to healthcare in the Western Region.
On Wednesday, 26th November 2025, he donated a large consignment of medical equipment to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital.
The donation, which was reported by Net2Tv, a media outlet owned by Hon. Agyapong, included wheelchairs, essential medicines, and several critical medical devices needed for the daily operations of the hospital. Hospital staff and administrators expressed their gratitude, saying the donation comes at a crucial time.
They explained that the hospital has been struggling with rising patient numbers and limited resources. With the new equipment, they hope to improve emergency response, patient mobility, and overall healthcare services for the community.
Hon. Agyapong said the donation reflects his long-standing commitment to supporting hospitals across the country. He noted that access to healthcare is a basic need for all Ghanaians and stressed that leaders have a responsibility to strengthen regional hospitals that serve large populations.
This act of philanthropy comes as the NPP prepares for its presidential primaries, scheduled for 31st January 2026. Hon. Agyapong has been actively engaging with party delegates, presenting his vision, and promoting fairness and unity within the party.
Supporters say his donations show a practical approach to leadership and a dedication to addressing the real challenges faced by ordinary citizens.
In recent months, he has also taken steps to ensure a transparent internal election, including setting up an anti-rigging monitoring team and reaching out to grassroots supporters nationwide.
The donation in the Western Region has boosted his image as a leader who combines philanthropy with political ambition. Hospital staff, community members, and local leaders praised the gesture, saying the new equipment will greatly improve patient care at Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital.

Civil rights advocate M***a Dankwah has spoken strongly against what he sees as selective protection of religious rights in Ghana’s public-funded schools.
Responding to a graphic showing the Attorney General defending Wesley Girls’ restrictive religious policy, he argued that Ghana must adopt a fair, forward-thinking approach.
In the Joy News image, the AG is reported as arguing that Wesley Girls has the right to practise its Methodist Christian faith and “prevent other religious practices.” This triggered deep public concern, especially among minority faith groups.
Reacting on Facebook, Dankwah wrote, “Everyone’s right has to be protected regardless of their religion.” He stressed that no Ghanaian child should lose their freedom of worship simply because they attend a particular school. He added that the matter should not be reduced to isolated legal cases. He wrote, “Government can use policies to ensure that the constitution works in all schools.” In his view, the state must not wait for litigation before enforcing basic rights.
Dankwah also challenged the Attorney General’s involvement. He stated plainly, “Attorney General does not have to defend itself in all cases it is cited.” According to him, the AG should not feel compelled to support positions that contradict constitutionally guaranteed freedoms.
He went on to warn that discrimination can quickly shift direction depending on the environment. He explained, “Today, it might be Muslims, it could be Christians in an Islamic school one day who might be at the receiving end.” His point is that the country must build systems that protect everyone, not just those currently in the majority.
The Wesley Girls issue has brought national attention to long-standing concerns about mission school policies and their compatibility with Ghana’s diverse religious landscape. Many citizens argue that the government should take a stronger stance to protect the rights of all students.
Dankwah described civil rights campaigner Osagyefo Oliver Barker-Vormawor as “the civil right activist of our time,” suggesting that more public voices are needed to push for fairness and reform.
As the debate widens, several education experts say the Ministry of Education must step in with a unified policy. Some suggest that schools receiving public funds should not be allowed to restrict religion. Others believe mission schools should maintain their identity.
Dankwah’s comment has added pressure on government to find a balanced solution that respects Ghana’s constitution and protects the rights of every student.

According to Adom Online news report on November 24, 2025, Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem has expressed strong confidence that President John Mahama’s administration will complete its four-year mandate without a single scandal. He made the remarks during the Annual Conference of the African Association of Accountants General in Accra.
Ampem attributed the government’s clean record to President Mahama’s firm stance against corruption and his repeated reminders to appointees to uphold ethical conduct. “It has been 10 months of no scandal. Hopefully, we will end the first year with no scandal. Second year, third year, and the administration will end without a scandal,” he said.
The statements follow a warning issued by President Mahama on November 18, 2025, during a meeting with the Christian Council of Ghana. The President cautioned that any public official found engaging in corrupt practices would face severe consequences, stressing that ministers are constantly reminded not to bring “any scandal” to the government.
“The prosecutions that we are taking against the current government, woe betides the first person who brings a scandal to this government. We shall hang them on a cross, as we follow our Lord Jesus Christ, but they cannot resurrect again,” President Mahama warned.
Reacting to the President’s remarks, Ampem said the directive has strengthened accountability within the government. “He says to us: woe betides any of you who bring scandal to my government. And so, if you meet any appointee, what we say is, ‘Hey, let me be sure that I’m not the first to bring scandal to the President.’ This is putting us on our toes,” he explained.
Ampem commended President Mahama for providing firm and principled leadership, saying it has instilled a culture of integrity and vigilance among government officials.

The Ghana government established GoldBod to oversee the buying, selling, and export of gold, with a stated goal of enhancing Ghana's international reputation as a responsible and transparent gold producer.
The controversy surrounding GoldBod highlights the ongoing challenges facing Ghana's efforts to combat illegal mining and protect its natural resources.
While some argue that the initiative will bring much-needed structure to the sector, others claim it will only serve to legitimize and incentivize illegal mining. The debate underscores the need for effective and impartial institutions to address these issues.

Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has issued a strong call to men across the country to report cases of domestic abuse perpetrated against them, stressing that the law protects all victims—regardless of gender.
Speaking during a public sensitisation programme on domestic violence, Dr. Lartey cautioned that silence among male victims contributes to unaddressed cycles of abuse within families. “If your wife abuses you, report her,” she declared. “Domestic violence has no gender. Any form of abuse—physical, emotional, psychological or economic—must be reported immediately.”
She noted that cultural expectations often pressure men to endure abuse in silence due to fear of stigma or ridicule. “Too many men are suffering quietly because society teaches them to appear strong at all times,” she said. “But strength is not suffering. Strength is seeking help when you are being harmed.”
According to Dr. Lartey, the Domestic Violence Act and national protection systems do not discriminate between male and female victims. She emphasised that the ministry, together with the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), is fully prepared to offer assistance, counselling, and legal support to any man who comes forward. “The law is clear—everyone deserves safety in their own home,” she added.
The minister also encouraged communities and families to challenge stereotypes that normalise women abusing men. She argued that the fight against domestic violence requires honesty about its various forms. “We cannot end gender-based violence if we pretend abuse only happens to one group,” she noted. “Let us support every victim, male or female, to get the justice and protection they deserve.”
Her remarks have generated public conversation about the need to broaden advocacy on domestic violence to include men, particularly in cases involving emotional and psychological abuse. Dr. Lartey concluded with a reminder that reporting abuse is an act of self-protection, not shame. “No one should be afraid to speak up. We are here to help you. Your life and your safety matter.”

A fiery political confrontation has erupted after commentator Abronye directly challenged President John Dramani Mahama over alleged corruption in his administration. The remarks were made in response to President Mahama’s recent statement that any officials found engaging in corruption would be arrested and held accountable. The video of Abronye’s comments was shared by OHIA TV.
Abronye accused Sammy Gyamfi, head of the Ghana Gold Board, of misappropriating ₵3.11 billion, claiming that part of the funds was used to purchase vehicles for Omane Boamah, a journalist formerly with TV Xzy. He demanded that the President take immediate action if his anti-corruption stance is genuine.
“Mr. President, you said any official who steals from the people would be arrested. If you really mean what you said, then arrest Sammy Gyamfi immediately. He has stolen ₵3.11 billion and used it for personal favors,” Abronye stated in the video.
The statement has ignited national debate, with many Ghanaians questioning the government’s commitment to accountability. Supporters of Abronye argue that transparency and swift action are necessary, while critics caution against making unverified allegations in the media.
Political observers note that the incident reflects heightened public expectations for integrity in governance and adds pressure on President Mahama to demonstrate decisive action against corruption.
As of now, neither President Mahama nor the Ghana Gold Board has responded to the allegations, leaving the public and commentators closely monitoring the situation for any official response.

A member of Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s campaign team, Kennedy Mintah, has called on delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to rally behind Acheampong, arguing that his business acumen, particularly in hospitality, is exactly what Ghana needs.
Speaking on Kessben FM with KOD, Mintah said that Acheampong’s ownership of one of Africa’s largest hotels underscores his capacity to lead. The hotel in question appears to be the Rock City Hotel in Kwahu-Nkwatia, Eastern Region, a massive resort with plans for over 2,200 rooms, and already widely described as one of the continent’s biggest.
According to Mintah, choosing Acheampong would not just be a political win, but an economic one, a way for the NPP to tap into proven entrepreneurship and leverage it for national development. He framed Acheampong’s business success as a concrete example of private-sector-driven impact, reinforcing his argument that Acheampong is “the best bet for the NPP and Ghana.”
Acheampong himself, for his part, has built a diverse business portfolio that spans hospitality, media, technology, and real estate.
Mintah’s appeal, therefore, hinges on both Acheampong’s political credentials and his track record as a job creator.
