Dad of a wild 2-year-old. Living slow in Bali. Sharing the real parts of fatherhood that nobody talks about. Millennial dad figuring it out in Bali.

For dads doing their best, and the partners who send them this. đź’™ Memes, quotes, and real talk about fatherhood. Building while being present for my Daughter.

Six months ago she was still putting two words together. Now she narrates her entire day whether I’m ready or not.

I’m exhausted. I’m also obsessed with every single word.

She has opinions about her socks. Questions about things I haven’t thought about since school. Thoughts she shares out loud before she’s even finished thinking them.

I never want this to stop. đź’™

I spent years trying to be more present.

Books. Podcasts. Reminders on my phone that I’d swipe away without reading. Nothing really worked. Not because the advice was wrong. Because I didn’t have a good enough reason to actually do it.

Then she arrived. And she looked up at me like being here was the most obvious thing in the world.

That worked. đź’™

Do you find it easier to be present with your kids than in any other part of your life? Because I think most parents know exactly what I mean.

Nobody prepares you for the specific feeling of watching your kid grow into themselves in real time. It’s not grief exactly. It’s not just pride either. It’s something that sits right between the two — the quiet weight of loving someone who is becoming more themselves and less yours with every single day that passes.

She said something last week that stopped me completely. Not because it was wrong. Because it was so entirely her own that I realized I had nothing to do with it. She’s developing a whole inner world that I only get glimpses of now. Preferences I didn’t know she had. Opinions I didn’t plant. A sense of humor that belongs entirely to her.

What I keep coming back to is this — my job was never to keep her. It was to build her well enough that she could leave. And watching her become exactly that person, in real time, right in front of me, is the most beautiful and quietly heartbreaking thing I’ve ever had a front row seat to.

I wouldn’t change a single thing about it. Not one. 💙

Is there a version of your kid right now that you’re desperately trying to hold onto before it changes? 👇

🙋🏻‍♂️ If watching your kid grow is the most beautiful and quietly costly thing you’ve ever done — you belong here. Come along.

I grew up in a house where feelings were implied at best. You just got on with things.

Now I’ve got a threenager who has feelings about everything including the wrong color cup. And I ask about all of them. Genuinely. Without rushing to fix it.

Some days she tells me exactly what’s going on. Some days she doesn’t have the words yet.

I just want her to always know the question is coming. đź’™

Nobody prepares you for how the love changes every year.

Not grows exactly. Changes. Gets heavier in some places and lighter in others. Gets more specific. More layered. More yours in a way that’s hard to explain to anyone who isn’t inside it.

I wrote it down instead of trying to explain it. The night she was born. The first year. The second. This one. Not because I had the right words. Because I didn’t want to forget how each version felt before the next one arrived.

Every year I didn’t think it was possible to love her more. Every year she proves me wrong.

Is that how it feels for you too? đź’™

She said something last week that stopped me completely. A full sentence, clearly formed, making a point I couldn’t argue with.

A year ago she was still figuring out words. Now she puts them together in ways that catch me off guard twice a day.

I keep waiting for the growing up to feel gradual. It never does. It happens in moments, all at once, when you finally stop and look.

If you have a three year old at home right now, you already know exactly what I mean. I’m looking more now. 💙

There’s a version of sacrifice nobody talks about because it doesn’t look like sacrifice from the outside.

It looks like a dad who just chose his family. Simple. Obvious. Expected even.

But inside it was a real thing set aside. A real cost paid quietly. Without fanfare. Without anyone fully understanding what it took.

If that’s you, I see it. And I need you to know the trade was worth it. Even on the days it doesn’t feel like it. 💙

🙋🏻‍♂️ Follow along if you’re a dad who made a quiet sacrifice that nobody else saw the size of. Comment SIMPLE if you want something that’s helped me make peace with the trade.
