We’re not finished with our Junior Infants just yet! There are still more little faces to share this week, but Chalk Talk has also been catching up with some of Meath’s First Years.

As Rathkenny Hall celebrates 75 years, these wonderful members of the community are taking us back to an earlier time, when “you wouldn’t meet a sinner on the roads” and the local hall was where everyone in the community would meet.
We are still reaching out for photos and memories so do please get in contact.
Mary remembers winning the bingo in Rathkenny Hall back in 1981 … £100, a very nice win at the time!
She also remembers getting to see Brendan Shine perform in the hall, when he was quite the star of radio and television.
Mary might say she had little to do with Rathkenny Hall, but the hall wouldn’t have been the same without people like her walking through its doors.
That’s the story of Rathkenny Hall.
Everyone played their part. Everyone has a memory. Everyone is part of this hall.
“It’s good to get out.”
The Revels and the Bingo were firm favourites at Rathkenny Hall for Olive.
Now over 80, she still arrives every season to be part of the Revels family.. making the tea, smiling, chatting and simply being there.
No fuss. Just Olive, talking completely naturally about a place and people that have been part of her life for years.

These two ladies gave so much to Rathkenny Hall. Decades later, here they are again… young, smiling and remembered.
People grow older, generations pass, but the newspaper remains a living archive of the people who made our communities what they are.
It remembers them when we no longer can.

For so many, Rathkenny Hall was a second home.
They were there week after week, year after year; rehearsing, dancing, performing, organising, helping out or simply being part of it all.
Who do you remember always seeing there? Who lit up the stage? Who was always working away behind the scenes?
Let’s remember some of the great characters who made Rathkenny Hall what it was… and those we still miss today.
