Last week at Output Belfast , Inflyte's Paul Hamill moderated a panel on how a dance record travels from demo to dance floor, with Helen Sartory ( Beatport ), and Dominic Kerley ( LabelWorx ) and Luke McFarlane ( Material Music )

Here are some key takeaways from the panel:

📬 The demo in the inbox is no longer the only way to get the music out. Artists can now build their own evidence of traction and take control of their own path.
📈 Labels are using DJ support and live reactions to decide which record to lead with.
🔎 Tools like Track ID could turn club moments into data that reaches labels before streaming numbers do.
🤖 On AI, the panel felt audiences still want a human behind the music.
🎶 Data is useful, but human judgement and curation still leads.

Two of the underground’s most respected selectors join forces for this ITB guest mix — Heidi Lawden and Lovefingers , who will also share the decks live at Akasha Ibiza , Ibiza on Friday 9th October as part of the Inflyte, Simon Sheldon and Aidys Tunez four-day weekender. Their parallel careers have quietly shaped the tastes of a generation of DJs and dancers on both sides of the Atlantic. 🎶

L.A.-based Heidi Lawden has been embedded in dance music since her teens in London’s early rave scene, going on to play Panorama Bar, Hï Ibiza, Glastonbury, Public Records, and Horsemeat Disco, with a range that moves fluidly from House and Techno to synth-laden Disco oddities. Lovefingers aka Andrew Hogge, founder of the revered ESP Institute — is the quiet tastemaker’s tastemaker, whose track-per-day archive at lovefingers.org expanded the ears of a generation and whose releases have found their way into the bags of everyone from DJ Harvey and Laurent Garnier to Dixon and the late Andrew Weatherall. ⚡️

Together they weave through William Orbit & Apiento, K-Lone’s remix of Nina’s “Air To Throne,” Lovefingers’ own L.O.V.E. Dub of Pulp’s “Got To Have Love,” and Richard Sen’s remix of Joshua Idehen’s “This Is The Place” in a b2b that feels both effortless and completely unplanned. ✨

Nik Muzka , the Belfast selector and co-founder of live trio Visions Of Light — steps up for this ITB guest mix, recorded ahead of upcoming live sets at Akasha Ibiza and WOM in Ibiza. 🏝️

Thirty years behind the decks have given Muzka a rare breadth: funk, soul, house, dub, hip-hop, and electro all find a home in his sets, and this mix is no different. Highlights include Visions Of Light’s own “Harmony” on NuNorthern Soul, Bonobo’s “Always On Your Side” featuring Joy Crookes, and Tornado Wallace’s “Today” on Running Back. Dave Angel’s “Apocalypse” on R&S and Danilo Plessow’s “Nightfall” on fabric add deeper club weight to a selection that refuses to sit still. 🎶

✨VONDA7 steps up for this episode of In The Basement. The Polish-born, Berlin and Valencia-based DJ, producer, vocalist and art | werk label founder whose emotive melodic touch has earned support from Sasha , Eelke Kleijn , Lane 8 and Above & Beyond among many others. 🎶

Her selection moves gracefully through melodic house and progressive techno, opening with unfazed’s “Wild” on Spinnin’ Deep before building through Joris Voorn’s Eelke Kleijn remix, YOTTO and Dakota’s “Deep Dive,” and her own “Behind The Flash” on her art | werk label. Denis Sulta’s remix of NTO’s “I Cared For You,” Adriatique’s “Coming Home,” and WhoMadeWho’s andhim remix on Cercle Records close a mix that balances emotional depth with dancefloor precision. ⚡️
