ভারতে প্রতি বছর ২৩শে জুলাই 'জাতীয় সম্প্রচার দিবস' (National Broadcasting Day) পালন করা হয়। ১৯২৭ সালে 'ইন্ডিয়ান ব্রডকাস্টিং কোম্পানি'-র অধীনে বোম্বে স্টেশন থেকে দেশের প্রথম রেডিও সম্প্রচারটি শুরু হয়েছিল; সেই ঐতিহাসিক ঘটনাকে স্মরণ করতেই এই দিনটি উদযাপিত হয়।
এই দিনটি দেশে সুসংগঠিত রেডিও সম্প্রচারের সূচনালগ্নকে চিহ্নিত করে। পাশাপাশি, জনসাধারণকে সংযুক্ত করা, শিক্ষিত করা এবং বিনোদন প্রদানের ক্ষেত্রে রেডিও, টেলিভিশন ও ডিজিটাল সম্প্রচার মাধ্যম যে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে, তাকেও এই দিনে উদযাপন করা হয়।
ভারতে সম্প্রচার ব্যবস্থার ইতিহাস
সূচনা: ১৯২৭ সালের ২৩শে জুলাই সুসংগঠিত সম্প্রচার ব্যবস্থার সূচনা হয়, যখন বেসরকারি সংস্থা 'ইন্ডিয়ান ব্রডকাস্টিং কোম্পানি' (IBC) বোম্বে ও কলকাতায় দুটি রেডিও স্টেশন চালু করে।
রাষ্ট্রীয় নিয়ন্ত্রণের অধীনে স্থানান্তর: আর্থিক সংকটের মুখে পড়ার পর, ১৯৩০ সালে সরকার সম্প্রচার কার্যক্রমের দায়িত্ব নিজের হাতে তুলে নেয় এবং 'ইন্ডিয়ান স্টেট ব্রডকাস্টিং সার্ভিস' (ISBS) গঠন করে।
অল ইন্ডিয়া রেডিও (AIR): ১৯৩৬ সালের ৮ই জুন, ISBS-এর নাম আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে পরিবর্তন করে 'অল ইন্ডিয়া রেডিও' (AIR) রাখা হয়।
আকাশবাণী: ১৯৫৭ সালে, জাতীয় সম্প্রচারক হিসেবে AIR 'আকাশবাণী' নামটি গ্রহণ করে।
বর্তমান গুরুত্ব
বর্তমানে ভারতের সরকারি সম্প্রচার সংস্থা 'প্রসার ভারতী' (যার অন্তর্ভুক্ত হলো অল ইন্ডিয়া রেডিও এবং দূরদর্শন) দেশের ৯৯ শতাংশেরও বেশি মানুষের কাছে পৌঁছানোর সেই ঐতিহ্য অব্যাহত রেখেছে। শুধুমাত্র AIR-ই ২৩টি ভাষা ও ১৪৬টি উপভাষায় অনুষ্ঠান সম্প্রচার করে; এটি সাক্ষরতা প্রসার, স্বাস্থ্য সচেতনতা, কৃষি বিষয়ক শিক্ষা এবং জন-যোগাযোগের ক্ষেত্রে একটি অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মাধ্যম হিসেবে কাজ করে। জাতীয় সম্প্রচার দিবস এই দীর্ঘ যাত্রাকে এবং আধুনিক সম্প্রচার নীতির অধীনে আধুনিকীকরণ, ডিজিটাল অগ্রগতি ও সাংস্কৃতিক বৈচিত্র্যের দিকে চলমান পরিবর্তনকে সম্মান জানায়।
