The killing of musician Vikram in Delhi is not just a crime, it is a devastating reminder of how easily the lives and dignity of people from the Northeast can be overlooked.

The accused must face the strictest punishment under the law and justice must be delivered without delay.

It is deeply painful that many people from mainland India seem to remember and celebrate us only when we bring home medals and make the nation proud. We are not just athletes. We are teachers, musicians, artists, students, workers, and human beings.

Our lives matter. Our dignity matters. Our voices matter.

We Strongly Condemn the Killing of Manipuri Musician Vikram in Delhi

The killing of a Manipuri musician in Delhi is deeply disturbing and must not be ignored. It raises serious concerns about the safety, dignity, and equal treatment of people from the Northeast in mainland India.

When people from the Northeast, particularly from Manipur, bring pride to the country through medals, music, culture, education, technology, sports, and other achievements, India celebrates them as Indians. Yet, when Northeast people face racism, discrimination, harassment, and violence, the promise of equality and unity feels painfully hollow.

We must speak honestly about this contradiction. Northeast Indians are not outsiders. We are equal citizens of India, and we deserve the same safety, dignity, respect, and justice as every other Indian.

We strongly condemn the killing of Vikram and demand a fair, transparent, and impartial investigation, with justice delivered to his family without delay.

This is not about hatred toward any region or community. It is a call to end racism, discrimination, and violence against Northeast people.

We, the people of the Northeast, will continue to stand together and raise our voices against injustice.
