DM Reasi reviews NCORD measures, calls for intensified vigilance and awareness

REASI, SEPTEMBER 29: District Magistrate Reasi Kumar Abhishek today chaired a meeting of the District Level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) to review the progress of enforcement measures, preventive initiatives and inter-departmental coordination aimed at curbing drug abuse and strengthening the anti-drug campaign in the district.
The District Magistrate reviewed the status of cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and took stock of the action taken against persons involved in drug-related offences. He stressed the need for sustained enforcement and close coordination among the Police, Health, Excise, Transport and other concerned departments to ensure effective implementation of anti-narcotics measures.
Kumar Abhishek called for heightened vigilance against the illegal cultivation of poppy and cannabis and asked the concerned departments to undertake regular field inspections, particularly in vulnerable and remote areas. He stressed the need for strict action against persons found involved in such activities.
Emphasizing the importance of early detection and prevention, the District Magistrate directed the concerned departments to undertake regular drug testing among vulnerable sections using drug detection kits. He also asked the Excise Department to procure adequate additional kits to strengthen testing and enforcement efforts across the district.
The meeting also reviewed the Information, Education and Communication activities being undertaken under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir campaign. The District Magistrate called for intensified awareness programmes at the Panchayat, school and college levels, with greater focus on community participation and youth engagement. He further directed that Nasha Mukt pledges be administered during Gram Sabhas in Panchayats to reinforce the message of collective responsibility in combating substance abuse.
Reviewing the healthcare and rehabilitation measures, the District Magistrate directed the Health Department to expedite the operationalization of the Addiction Treatment Facility at District Hospital Reasi. He also directed the Drug Inspector to conduct regular inspections of medical shops across the district and ensure achievement of the prescribed inspection targets. Stressing strict compliance with the rules governing the sale and distribution of medicines, he called for prompt action against any violations detected during inspections.
The meeting also reviewed the process of cancellation of driving licences in cases involving drug-related offences. The District Magistrate directed the Police Department to identify vulnerable and sensitive locations for installation of CCTV cameras and called for intensified patrolling around schools and colleges, particularly during opening and closing hours.
Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi Mukund Tibrewal, Additional District Development Commissioner Krishan Lal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar, General Manager, District Industries Centre, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Chief Medical Officer and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.

SSP Reasi Presides Over Thana Diwas at Arnas Village of District Reasi

As part of the ongoing public outreach initiative “Thana Diwas”, launched by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir to strengthen Police Public relations, a community interaction programme was organized today at Community Hall, Arnas in Sub Division Arnas.
The programme was chaired by *Sh. Mukund Tibrewal-IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, and was attended by Sh. Updesh Kumar-SDPO Arnas, Inspr. Sureshwar Dev Singh, SHO PS Arnas along with representatives from the Civil Society*.
The event witnessed active participation from members of civil society of Arnas and adjoining areas. The interaction provided a constructive platform for dialogue, during which participants raised several public welfare and policing related issues, including:
*Establishment and infrastructure of Police Posts at Panassa, Thanole, Dhansal, Kouri, and Dharmari*
*Allotment of sufficient am******on to VDG Members*
*Deterioration of roads within the Sub-Division Arnas*
*Establishment of a Gym at Arnas for youth engagement*
*Organization of sports tournaments under the Civic Action Programme*
Responding with empathy and assurance, SSP Reasi emphasized that all genuine grievances related to policing and public safety will be addressed on priority. He informed the gathering that:
Infrastructure and establishment work is ongoing for Police Station Panassa and PP Thanole.
Land has been identified for Police Posts at Dhansal and Kouri, with construction to commence soon. Land identification for Police Post Dharmari is under process and being pursued with competent authorities on priority.
Sufficient am******on will be allotted to VDG Members, with on spot directions issued to SHO Arnas for immediate action.
Volleyball and Kabaddi tournaments under the Civic Action Programme will be organized soon in Arnas Village.
Proposal for a Gym Centre at Arnas will be taken up for consideration.
During the programme, participants were also sensitized about the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and the Dial 112 Police Helpline. Awareness was spread regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse and the collective responsibility of both Police and the community in eradicating this menance.
SSP Reasi appealed to the public to act as the eyes and ears of the security forces and promptly report any movement or activities related to Anti National Elements (ANEs), so that their nefarious designs can be effectively thwarted.
Such initiatives continue to play a vital role in strengthening trust, transparency, and collaborative problem solving between the Police and the communities they serve.
