*Jammu Police Solves Dhammi Jagti Theft Case; One Accused Arrested, Stolen Gold Ornaments Worth ₹15 Lakh Recovered*

Jammu police has achieved a significant breakthrough in the investigation of FIR No. 225/2026 under Sections 331(3) and 305(a) BNS, registered at Police Station Nagrota, in connection with the theft of gold ornaments from a residential house at Dhammi Jagti, Nagrota.

During the course of investigation, the police team of Police station Nagrota, conducted a detailed examination of the scene of crime. CCTV footage, tower dump data, witness statements and CDR analysis were meticulously examined and relevant technical and circumstantial evidence was collected and analysed to establish the sequence of events and identify the person(s) involved in the offence.

Based on the investigation conducted so far, the accused, namely Mohit Singh S/o Prem Singh R/o kukrian Goh Manhasa, Tehsil Marh, District Jammu, was identified and arrested.

During further investigation, pursuant to the disclosure statement of the accused and in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure, the stolen gold ornaments were recovered from his residential premises at Goh Manhasa, where the property had allegedly been concealed beneath a cow shed.
The recovered stolen property comprises:
1. Golden Necklace – 01
2. Golden Tikka – 01
3. Golden Nath – 01
4. Golden Bangles – 02
5. Golden Jhumkas – 02
6. Golden Tops – 02
7. Golden Ring (Male) – 01
8. Golden Ring (Female) – 01

Total: 11 gold ornaments, weighing approximately 10 Tolas (100 grams), having an estimated value of ₹15,00,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Lakh).

All the aforementioned stolen gold ornaments have been recovered and taken into police possession through proper seizure proceedings as per law.

The recovery of the entire stolen gold property, coupled with the technical and other evidence collected during investigation, constitutes a significant development in the case and is expected to assist in establishing the circumstances and sequence of the offence.

Jammu Police remains committed to conducting a fair, thorough and evidence-based investigation and ensuring that all persons found involved are dealt with strictly in accordance with law.

Worthy Director Agriculture Jammu, Anil Gupta reviewed the trial of Cordyceps mushroom production successfully conducted at Spawn Production lab Jammu. Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs) Jammu, Sanjay Anand; SMS RL Krishan Kant, Mushroom Development Officer Jammu, Arun Gupta; and senior officers from the Spawn Production Lab and Mushroom Development Scheme, Jammu, accompanied the Director during the visit. He appreciated the efforts of the technical team and said that interested farmers, mushroom growers and young agripreneurs will be provided training and technical guidance through DCTC Jammu. The Director also inspected the Mushroom Controlled Cropping Unit at DCTC Jammu and emphasized that controlled-environment technology can enable farmers to cultivate mushrooms throughout the year and enhance their income. He stressed that the Department will continue to support farmers in strengthening Button, Oyster (Dingri), Milky and other high-value mushroom cultivation.

Apni Party protests power tariff hike in Mendhar, warns of mass agitation

Raqeeq Khan leads protest against Omar Govt; seeks rollback of tariff hike, fulfilment of poll promises and action on local issues

Mendhar, Sep 12: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party spokesperson Raqeeq Khan led a strong protest in Mendhar against the National Conference-led government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accusing it of burdening the people with a hike in electricity tariffs and failing to fulfil several promises made during the elections.

The protesters raised slogans against the government and burnt its effigy to register their opposition to the increased power tariff. Addressing the gathering, Khan said the power tariff hike had added to the difficulties of common people, particularly those already struggling with rising household expenses.

Khan issued an ultimatum to the Omar Abdullah-led government, demanding immediate withdrawal of the order enhancing electricity tariffs. He warned that if the decision was not revoked within 50 days, the Apni Party would launch a mass public movement (Jan Andolan) across Jammu and Kashmir.

He further warned that the party would intensify its protests and demonstrate with black flags wherever the Chief Minister or National Conference organises public programmes if the issues raised by the people remain unresolved.

Khan also questioned the government over its alleged failure to fulfil the promise of providing one lakh jobs. He alleged that instead of creating transparent employment opportunities for deserving youth, jobs were being provided through what he termed “back-door” arrangements favouring relatives and influential persons. He demanded transparency and fairness in recruitment.

Referring to another election promise, Khan said the National Conference had promised 12 free LPG cylinders, but the benefit had not reached the people. He urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to fulfil the commitment made to voters and provide the promised cylinders.

The Apni Party spokesperson also raised concerns over the process of development and restoration works in Mendhar. He alleged that despite the need for urgent restoration works, tenders were not being opened for the past several weeks and claimed that works were being delayed or rejected on considerations other than public interest. He called upon the administration, Deputy Commissioner and concerned Minister to ensure transparency and fairness in the tendering process.

Khan also reminded the government of its alleged promise to provide Rs 5,000 assistance to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and demanded that the commitment be implemented without further delay.He highlighted a range of other issues confronting the people of Mendhar, including poor road conditions, inadequate water supply, deteriorating market infrastructure and the problems being faced by daily wagers. He said the Apni Party would continue to raise these issues and hold the government accountable for its promises and performance.

Khan also raised the issue concerning the CD Panchayat plan, alleging that the process had not progressed despite the plan having arrived. He questioned the delay in putting up the required banner and floating tenders for the works.He appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene and ensure that the plan is approved and tenders are floated at the earliest so that development works can begin without further delay.

Khan said the people of Mendhar, Balakote and adjoining areas had been waiting for solutions to their long-pending problems and could not be expected to remain silent indefinitely.Giving the administration a 10-day deadline to address the CD Panchayat-related issue, Khan warned that failure to resolve it would lead to intensified protests against the government and National Conference programmes.

“The people have given the government enough time. We will continue to raise our voice against every issue affecting the common people and will oppose the government wherever necessary,” Khan said.He asserted that the Apni Party would stand with the people of Mendhar and continue its struggle for affordable electricity, employment opportunities, better roads and water supply, transparent development works, and fulfilment of electoral commitments.
