The election process for the post of PDP Zone President was formally conducted today at Hazratbal in the presence of PDP Senior Leader and Former Minister *Zahoor Ahmad Mir Sahib*, who attended the proceedings as Election Observer. District President Srinagar *Abdul Qayoom Bhat* and Constituency Incharge *Ms. Asiea Naqash* were also present on the occasion.

Following the election process, the delegates unanimously re-elected *Mohammad Rafiq Dar* as the Zone President of Hazratbal.

Election Observer Zahoor Ahmad Mir formally nominated Mohammad Rafiq Dar as Zonal President and appreciated the delegates and Constituency Incharge Ms. Asiea Naqash for conducting the election process in a disciplined, orderly and cordial atmosphere.

Hon’ble MLA Pulwama Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra today undertook an extensive day-long visit to dozens of villages in Awantipora A to review the ongoing developmental works and assess the progress of various public welfare projects.
During the visit, the Hon’ble MLA interacted with local residents, listened attentively to their concerns and grievances, and took detailed feedback regarding development, basic amenities and other issues affecting the people.
Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra assured the people that their genuine concerns would be taken up on priority and pursued with the concerned departments for timely resolution. He emphasised that development must remain people-centric and that the voices and needs of every village should receive due attention.
He also visited schools and healthcare institutions to assess the availability of basic facilities and understand the challenges being faced by students, teachers, patients and healthcare staff.
The visit reflects his continued focus on grassroots engagement, public outreach and effective monitoring of developmental works across the constituency.

Zahoor Ahmad Mir Raises Serious Concern Over Electricity Disconnections in Pampore Town

Pampore: PDP Senior Leader and Former Minister Zahoor Ahmad Mir has strongly raised concern over the disconnection of electricity connections of residents across Pampore town, particularly poor and economically weaker families.

Mir said that for the last two days, several families who were struggling to pay their electricity bills—even through instalments—have had their electricity connections disconnected, leaving them without power and forcing them to live in darkness.

He said the situation has created immense hardship for poor families, students, elderly people and patients, who depend on electricity for their daily needs, education and medical requirements.

“Disconnecting electricity connections of poor families who are already struggling to pay their bills is sheer injustice. These families cannot be pushed into darkness simply because they are unable to clear their dues at once. The government must immediately review these disconnections and provide relief to deserving families,” Mir said.

He questioned the government over its election promises of 200 units of free electricity, saying that the people of Pampore now find themselves facing electricity disconnections instead of the relief they were promised.

Mir urged the concerned department and the government to immediately restore the disconnected connections of genuine cases and adopt a humane approach towards financially struggling consumers.

“The residents of Pampore town have a right to basic electricity. Poor families should not be forced to sell household jewellery or valuable belongings just to keep their homes illuminated. The government must act immediately and stop this hardship to the people of Pampore.

PDP Devsar Zonal Election Held Successfully

Today, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) held its Zonal President election for Devsar at the residence of Party Vice President & Constituency Incharge Devsar, Mr. Mohammad Sartaj Madni Sahib.

The election was presided over by District President Anantnag, Mr. Javaid Ahmad Sahib, who served as the Presiding Officer.

During the election, Mr. Ghulam Rasool Dar was nominated/elected as Zonal President Devsar, while Mr. Bilal Ahmad Parry was nominated/elected as Zonal Secretary Devsar.

The election was attended by District President Kulgam Mr. Zaffarullah Wani, Khursheed Ahmad Sahib, Vice District President, Block Presidents, Youth Zonal and Block Presidents, senior party workers, and respected delegates.
