The library of the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani is dedicated to supporting the educational mission of the university by providing access to both traditional and digital scholarly resources. We were pleased to welcome the participants of the Training: Preservation of Libraries and Archives in Iraq to the Moulakis Library.
The delegation included professionals from the Iraq National Library and Archives (INLA), Zheen Center, and the Chaldean Antonian Order of Saint Hormizd Institute. During their visit, they explored our library system, learned about our projects and community initiatives, and exchanged ideas on the preservation of library and archival collections.

🎨 New Artwork at Moulakis Library
Moulakis Library is pleased to showcase The Ravens Listen, a captivating artwork generously donated by AUIS student Ms. Yara Baban.
This thoughtful contribution enriches our library space and reflects the creativity and talent within the AUIS community. We are grateful to Ms. Yara for sharing her work with us and helping make the library an even more inspiring place for learning, reflection, and discovery.

To support our students during the final week of Spring 2026 classes, the Moulakis library team organized De-Stress with Art and Cookies — a relaxing community activity designed to create a calm and welcoming study break during finals season.
The event featured a calming art and painting session, along with complimentary cookies paired with motivational messages to encourage and support our students throughout the busy and stressful academic week. 🎨🍪✨

The Moulakis Library had the honor of hosting an insightful Author Talk with environmental journalist Mr. Khaled Sulaiman, focusing on the hidden dimensions of climate change and water scarcity in Kurdistan and Iraq.
With over 15 years of experience, Mr. Sulaiman shared valuable perspectives on drought, environmental justice, and the crucial role of media in addressing climate challenges across the region.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to a meaningful discussion on one of the most pressing issues of our time.

He has published widely in Arabic and Kurdish on climate change, global warming, and environmental justice, with articles appearing in DARAJ, The National News, The Washington Institute, Le Devoir, and Der Spiegel.

Soran H. Ahmed is a wildlife researcher specializing in biodiversity and conservation. He has studied wildlife since 2017, published numerous international papers, and co-authored the scientific book Snakes of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. His work focuses on wildlife photography, biodiversity field surveys, and raising awareness on conservation in the Kurdistan Region.
