IBB

Was founded in 1976 with the triple purpose of fulfilling research in the areas of biochemistry, biophysics and related areas, performing collaborative research activities with domestic as well as reputable research centers around the world, and training students at the Master's and PhD level. In that year the institute started its educational activities by admitting 19 M.Sc and 4 PhD students in Molecular Cell Biology. Ever since, and especially from 1988 onwards, IBB has been actively engaged in training graduate and doctoral students in biochemistry and biophysics, as well as in fulfilling the objectives of carrying out basic and applied research in biochemistry and biophysics on the one hand, and exchanging scientific information with other research centers and institutions, both inside and outside the country, on the other. IBB is regarded as being one of the prestigious research institutes affiliated to the University of Tehran and as such it enjoys a high position among the research centers in the country.
