The SLR McLaren belongs to a world that no longer exists.
A world where Mercedes-Benz could build a supercar with McLaren.
Where a carbon-fibre monocoque, a supercharged V8 and a folding roof could coexist in the same car.
Where the answer to “what should a supercar be?” was not yet obvious.
The SLR did not follow a formula.
It created its own.
And perhaps that is why it still feels so difficult to place — even today.

A long-nose silhouette, a supercharged 5.4-litre V8, and a partnership we’ll probably never see again: Mercedes-Benz and McLaren under the same roof.
