32-YEAR-OLD MAN SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR DEFILING 9-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN MALABA

A 32-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of defiling a nine-year-old girl in Malaba, Teso North Sub-County, Busia County.

David Kevin, a resident of Kakamega County, was found guilty by Malaba Resident Magistrate Antonete Zowade Ogange of defiling the minor on March 28, 2025, at around 6 p.m. in the Sokoni area of Malaba. He was arraigned in court on April 1, 2025.

The prosecution told the court that the offence occurred inside the accused’s house. Five witnesses testified during the trial, including a clinical officer, a community police officer and the child’s parent.

The prosecution urged the court to impose the maximum sentence, alleging that the accused had a history of sexually abusing young girls. In her judgment, Magistrate Ogange ruled that the prosecution had proved the case beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced Kevin to life imprisonment.
