Today, I joined the Kimwele family for the burial of their patriarch, the late Mzee Peter Kimwele Mutuni.

Later on, I visited the family of the late Sammy Ndemange A.K.A. Kitunguu to condole with them following their loss.

To both families, I encouraged them to remain strong and united during this difficult moment. May God grant them peace and comfort as they mourn their loved ones.

On Sunday, 23/08/2026, I attended Sunday Mass at St. Augustine Maaini Catholic Church Mutune Parish, Maaini Village.

I later joined the congregation in celebrating four couples who were united in Holy Matrimony. I congratulated them and wished them a blessed and happy marriage.

From Maaini, I proceeded to Holy Family Catholic Church Kavumbu, Kasyala Parish, Kauma Location, where I joined the faithful and church leaders for a consultative planning meeting ahead of the Harambee to complete the church building, slated for December 2026.

Later in the day, I visited Maseki Village, where I condoled with the family of the late Agnes Ngaisa Mwalimu and Kanyiva Mathenge following the loss of their loved one, the late Kanyiva Mathenge. I joined the family and the community in kwota mwaki as we mourned and celebrated her life.

For me, leadership is about being present, not only in moments of celebration, but also during difficult times. True leadership begins with listening, standing with the community, and sharing in both their joys and their challenges.

Together, we continue to build a stronger community.

Earlier today, I joined the family, friends and neighbours at Utoo Village, Mutonguni Location, for the send-off of the late Phoebe Mukai.

It was a difficult moment for the family, and I stood with them to share in their grief and offer my heartfelt condolences. May God grant the family strength, comfort and peace during this difficult time, and may the memory of Phoebe continue to live on among those who knew and loved her.

I was accompanied by Hon. Musee Mati, Incoming MCA Mutonguni Ward, as we stood together with the family and the community.

Later, I proceeded to Kyenge Location, Kauwi Ward, where I joined family, friends and community members in celebrating the retirement of Chief Peninah Kalola.

It was a wonderful opportunity to honour a woman who has dedicated many years of her life to serving our community. I congratulated Chief Peninah on her retirement and wished her good health, happiness and many more blessed years as she begins this new chapter.

The celebration was also attended by Hon. Musee Mati, Incoming MCA Mutonguni; Hon. Martin Mumo, MP Aspirant Kitui West; Hon. Patrick Musau, Incoming MP Kitui West; Hon. Ngunga Milai, MP Aspirant Kitui West; and Hon. Kioko Gideon, MCA Aspirant Migwani Ward.

From standing with a grieving family to celebrating a life of service, today was another reminder that leadership is ultimately about people.

It is about being present in their difficult moments, sharing in their joy, listening to their stories and walking alongside them through the different seasons of life.

Kitui West is our home. Its people are our strength, and walking with them remains a responsibility I hold close to my heart.

Honouring the Life and Legacy of Mzee John Malusi Kanywa 🕊️*

On Friday, 31st July 2027, I joined my family, friends, and leaders from across our region at Matinyani Polytechnic Grounds in Mutulu Location, Matinyani Ward, to lay to rest my beloved grandfather, Mzee John Malusi Kanywa.
As I paid my tribute, I remembered him as a visionary and firm leader whose life was anchored on the values of education, hard work, discipline, and family.
After retiring from his career in Mombasa, my grandfather made the deliberate choice to return to his village. There, he embraced a simple yet fulfilling life, dedicating himself to small-scale poultry keeping and sugarcane farming. He found joy in working the land and remained closely connected to the community he loved so dearly. His humility, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to family continue to inspire me and everyone whose life he touched.
I was deeply humbled by the presence of leaders who joined us to console our family and pay their last respects. I sincerely thank Hon. Silvester Munyalo, MCA for Matinyani Ward; Hon. Boniface Katumbi, MCA for Kyangwithya East Ward; Hon. Musee Mati, former MCA for Mutonguni Ward; Mike Kittivo, Senator Aspirant; Mr. Mutukaa, Senator Aspirant; and Katee wa Ndana, Chairman of the Katee Foundation, for standing with us during this difficult moment.

To everyone who offered prayers, messages of encouragement, and unwavering support throughout this period of mourning, my family and I are truly grateful. Your kindness and compassion gave us strength as we bid farewell to a remarkable man.

Fare thee well, Guka. Your legacy lives on, and your memory will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in eternal peace. 🕊️

Today, I joined family, friends and leaders in Kitunduni Village, Mutulu Location, Matinyani Ward for the send-off of Mama Alice Kavata Wambua, the beloved mother-in-law of Hon. Robert Mutiso Lelli.

I prayed with the family and conveyed my heartfelt condolences. I urged the community to remain united and to continue supporting one another.
I believe that true leadership is demonstrated by standing with the people in both times of sorrow and times of joy.

May the Almighty grant the family strength, and may Mama Alice’s soul rest in eternal peace.

Madaraka reminds us that power belongs to the people.

As we celebrate this day, let us demand leadership that serves, listens, and delivers. Our people deserve jobs, affordable living, quality services, and leaders who put public interest above personal gain.

Together, we can build a constituency and a Kenya that works for everyone.

Happy Madaraka Day.
