In September 2025, a secondary school in Birmingham sent parents a message about flu vaccinations. A spreadsheet containing pupils' names, dates of birth, gender and parent/carer phone numbers for Years 7 to 11 was accidentally exposed to parents.

It was not a hacker. It happened during an ordinary admin task: information that should have stayed inside the system was shared through a spreadsheet.

Google Workspace can technically track that, on some tiers, if someone's gone in and configured it. In practice, almost no school has. Not because it's impossible, because it's one more setup nobody has time to own on top of teaching.
