The Asia-Pacific Medical Education Conference (APMEC) is a landmark conference in the field of Medical Education, held annually, and continuously growing in prominence. Over the years, it has been able to attract participants not only from the Asia-Pacific region but also from across the globe. The APMEC provides a forum for medical educators, researchers, and practitioners to share best practices, innovative teaching methodologies, and research findings that contribute to the development and improvement of Medical Education. In 2023, the APMEC celebrated its 20th anniversary, with nearly 1,000 medical and healthcare professionals from 40 countries attending the conference, both in person and virtually. In today’s fast-paced world, it is vital to identify novel and effective approaches to teaching and learning. The theme for APMEC 2024 is, “Artificial Intelligence in Health Professions Education –Trends. Strategies”. The conference will be organized by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau. Encouraging the participation of academics and students in this conference will undoubtedly provide an excellent opportunity to explore the integration of novel methods and technologies for utilizing Artificial Intelligence in health professions education. The Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, (FOM-UOC) Sri Lanka, is a prestigious institution at the forefront of Medical Education and Research in Sri Lanka. Established in 1870, it has a long- standing history of excellence. FOM-UOC provides a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum that equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to become compassionate and competent doctors. State-of-the-art facilities and experienced faculty members ensure a nurturing environment for learning and growth. Through innovative research, FOM-UOC strives to push the boundaries of medical knowledge and improve healthcare outcomes.

The Asia Pacific Medical Education Conference (APMEC) 2024 concluded with great success, with the participation of over 900 onsite and online delegates from 39 countries. Co-organised by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo and the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, this event marked the first time that APMEC was hosted as an on site event, outside Singapore. Medical and Health Professions educators and researchers presented over a 100 scientific abstracts, and actively participated in 34 pre- and post-congress workshops, 18 symposia and numerous plenaries, panel discussions and satellite meetings. The academic programme was accompanied by a vibrant social programme, which included the inaugural reception and conference Gala Dinner. We thank our co-organisers and organising partners, sponsors and most importantly, the delegates who played a vital role in making this academic event truly remarkable.
