Breaking news
The Government of Liberia, through the Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA), proposes to procure a modern, multi-purpose ferry to facilitate the efficient transportation of containers, earth-moving equipment, trucks, buses, SUVs, other vehicles, and passengers along the coastline of Liberia and, where applicable, to neighboring coastal countries.
The initiative is intended to strengthen coastal connectivity, maritime transportation, regional trade, and logistics, while providing an alternative and complementary means of moving people and cargo, particularly to coastal communities and areas where road transportation may be constrained.
The ferry will be operated and managed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Agreement, with the Government, through LiMA, providing the appropriate public-sector framework and oversight, while the private-sector partner brings operational expertise, investment, and commercial management capabilities. The partnership will establish clear responsibilities for vessel operations, maintenance, safety, revenue management, and overall service delivery.
The project represents an important step toward leveraging Liberia’s maritime resources to promote economic development, employment, coastal commerce, and regional integration, while ensuring that the ferry operates in accordance with applicable Liberian laws and international maritime safety and environmental standards.

Vice President Jeremiah Koung writes..
“In 2024, I flew on a private jet belonging to a friend of mine, free of charge, and there were issues and discussions. This trip, I chose to use the regular route that everyone uses to pick up a few things for my daughter from the Duty Free stores, and again there are discussions.
No shoes, no jacket was removed.
Again, this is the effect of the package🤣”

THE MACHINES ARE FINALLY HERE! LIBERIA’S FARMS ARE GETTING MORE POWER!
A Major boost for Liberian agriculture! The first batch of agricultural machinery has arrived at the Freeport of Monrovia, marking another important step in the Ministry of Agriculture’s mechanization drive under the able leadership of Agriculture Minister Dr. J. Alexander Nuetah.
The shipment includes 24 tractor heads, 8 semi-trailers, 8 trucks and 8 towing vehicles, part of 306 pieces of agricultural machinery and equipment being brought into Liberia. The second and final batch, packed in 42 containers, is expected by September 26.
For farmers, the machines mean less backbreaking manual labor, faster land preparation, more acres under cultivation, and greater opportunity to produce more food.
The equipment will support 13 Agricultural Mechanization Service Centers across Nimba, Montserrado, Bomi, Margibi, B**g, and Lofa Counties, where farmers will have access to mechanized services at affordable rates.
But bringing in the machines is only part of the plan. The Ministry is also investing in Liberians to operate, maintain, and keep the equipment running. Following a recent call for expressions of interest for machinery operators, Chinese technicians are expected in early October to conduct 40 days of hands-on training beginning October 10 at CARI in Suakoko, B**g County.
The training will build local capacity to operate and maintain the machinery, helping ensure the equipment remains functional and available to farmers for years to come.
Machines are arriving. Liberians are being trained. Farmers will have greater access to mechanization.
More machines. More acres. More food. Agricultural mechanization is moving from plan to reality.

Liberia Airport Authority Strengthens Regional Aviation Partnerships at African Union Consultative Meeting in Kigali
Margibi, Liberia: The Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) is participating in a high-level African Union consultative meeting on the development of bankable aviation infrastructure projects taking place in Kigali, Rwanda from 14-17 September 2026. The Liberian delegation is led by the Managing Director, Hon. Ernest Hughes and includes the Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Victor Debah.
The meeting is aimed at advancing the implementation of aviation infrastructure development initiatives across Africa and operationalizing outcomes from the African Air Transport Convention and Expo held in Lomé, Togo, where the LAA was represented by its Managing Director. The consultative forum brings together aviation authorities, regulators, development finance institutions, technical partners, and regional stakeholders to strengthen collaboration in developing investment-ready aviation infrastructure projects that can attract sustainable financing and support Africa's air transport growth agenda.
The meeting is organized under the leadership of the African Union and its continental aviation partners. A key feature of the Kigali discussions is the promotion of regional cooperation and collective action among African aviation institutions. Participants are working to establish common project development standards, share best practices, identify financing opportunities, and build strategic partnerships that will accelerate the modernization of aviation infrastructure across the continent.
Through this collaborative approach, African states are expected to benefit from increased technical expertise, stronger project preparation capabilities, and improved access to development financing.
Liberia's participation reflects the Government's commitment to strengthening regional aviation integration and supporting the objectives of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), which seeks to improve air connectivity, facilitate trade and tourism, and foster economic growth throughout Africa. The LAA is seeking support for the development and eventual implementation of strategic projects in five priority areas:
• Aerodrome Maintenance
• Air Navigation Services
• Airport Operations
• Aviation Security Equipment
• Environmental Protection and Sustainability
Over the course of the three-day consultative sessions, participants will focus on achieving five principal objectives:
1. Establishing a common project development framework;
2. Assessing the readiness of priority aviation projects;
3. Identifying technical and financial support mechanisms;
4. Determining appropriate financial and investment models; and
5. Agreeing on a practical post-Kigali implementation roadmap.
The Liberian delegation is also being complemented by the participation of the Roberts Flight Information Region (RFIR), represented by its Deputy Secretary General for Administrative Affairs, demonstrating Liberia's coordinated national approach to advancing aviation infrastructure development and strengthening institutional collaboration within the aviation sector.
Speaking on the significance of the engagement, the Liberia Airport Authority noted that the Kigali consultative meeting provides a valuable platform to align Liberia's aviation infrastructure priorities with regional development initiatives, while establishing partnerships with technical experts, development institutions, and potential financiers.
The Authority believes that successful implementation of these projects will enhance airport safety and security, improve operational efficiency, strengthen air navigation capabilities, support environmental sustainability, and ensure greater compliance with international civil aviation standards.
The Liberia Airport Authority remains committed to working closely with regional and international partners to transform Liberia's aviation infrastructure priorities into bankable projects capable of attracting investment and delivering long-term benefits for the country and the wider West African sub-region
