Scenes. Soul. Liberia. A visual diary by @rizingrootz
Season One: The Sister Series.

Some moments just feel like home.
Nothing loud, nothing forced — just two people by the river breeze,
laughing soft-soft and holding each other like the world finally slow down.

And truth be told…
in a country where everybody fighting their own battles to survive,
finding someone who brings you calm — even for a minute —
is a blessing you can’t overlook.

This day wasn’t about posing or perfect shots.
It was sunlight, saltwater, warm hands, and a quiet kind of joy
that remind you God still knows how to send comfort through people.

Simple. Honest. Soft.
A Liberian love story.

The gas man and his funnel.
The soup corner and her shadows.
This one for the ones who keep the street running.
No applause. No pressure.
Just here.
Still beautiful. 🌱📸

yellow was never just a color here.
it’s how we move.
how we wait.
how we hold shade.

from nowhere but here. 📸🇱🇷

Just light, just motion. Nothing big. Nothing loud.
Just the glow of a place that never needs to perform.

This series wasn’t really about pictures.
It was about a girl… trying to put language to her own becoming.
A girl who doesn’t always talk much,
but wanted to be seen — in the quiet, in the chaos, in the places that shaped her.

The Sister Series started as an experiment.
Can a person open up… without explaining too much?
Can you tell a story without trying to make it perfect or pretty?

From Grandma Yard to Old Field to the first post.
this was a visual diary.
A chance to mark moments before they passed.
To hold space for memory.
To respect the little shifts that happened inside me.

Every post wasn’t planned.
Some were spontaneous, some deeply emotional, some lighthearted.
But all of them were real.
And that was the whole point.

This is the end of Season One.
Not because the story is done — but because this chapter is.
I’ve changed. I’m changing.
And I needed a place to honor that before moving forward.

To everyone who watched, commented, shared, or even just paused to take it in —
thank you.
This was personal.
And your eyes made it matter.

See you in the next season.
New frame. New voice. Same soul.

Grandma’s house was more than a house.
It was a world.

We played in that yard like we owned the universe.
Cousins running wild, laughing loud,
big pots on coal pots, smells of pepper and palm butter calling everybody to come eat.

Grandma would sit on the porch,
telling us stories about her ‘America days’ —
like she been everywhere, seen everything.

Our aunts and mom?
They’d be in the corner talking about their mission days,
while we chased each other barefoot, no care in the world.

This house held us.
Through joy, through loss.
We didn’t know it then,
but those were the golden days.

Now it feel different.
The quiet is heavier.
But the love?
It’s still in the walls.

They call it Old Field.
But to me,
it was the line between the girl I used to be
and the woman I had no choice but to become.

I was fresh out of high school—
head full of dreams,
but no blueprint.
College felt like a storm,
and life wasn’t handing out umbrellas.

I remember walking these roads
with fear tucked under my arm
and expectations too heavy for my age.
Family counting on me.
People watching.
And no more school uniform to disappear behind.
Just me…
and whatever came next.

This was the first place I cooked for myself.
The first place I sat in silence
and faced thoughts I used to run from.
The first place I learned
how to show up, even when I didn’t feel ready.

I didn’t find myself here.
But I started trying.
And sometimes… that’s enough.

Hey guys.
My name is Mardell. I’m 26.
A middle child. A college graduate.
An introvert that plays extrovert when the room calls for it.

This isn’t about modeling.
It’s about telling my story — through my brother’s lens.
One piece at a time.
Welcome to my visual diary.
