We are pleased to announce that **Mamotseoa Lekhotla**, the **Media & Communication Director of Bosco Rise Lesotho**, will be joining **Radio Maria Lesotho** for an online interview this **Sunday at around 17:00**.

At just 16 years old and currently preparing for her **Grade 11 examinations at Montessori**, Mamotseoa represents the voice and potential of young people who are using their gifts to serve and inspire others.

During the 10-minute conversation, the interview will explore:

Today, the Word of God invites us not only to listen, but to allow Christ to transform the way we live, think, serve, study, work and relate to one another.

🇱🇸 A GOSPEL FOR THE YOUNG PEOPLE OF LESOTHO

Young people are not struggling because they are simply “bad.”

Behind many struggles are deeper root causes:

• Poverty and unemployment
• Lack of opportunities and skills
• School and academic pressure
• Broken family relationships
• Bullying and rejection
• Lack of positive role models
• Substance abuse and harmful influences
• Loss of purpose and hope
• Peer pressure
• Limited access to formation and mentorship
• Young people feeling unheard by society
• Parents struggling to understand and accompany their children
• Systems that sometimes fail to give young people the opportunities they need to flourish

We cannot solve these problems by blaming the young person alone.

We must go to the roots.

The Catholic faith teaches us that every young person has dignity, purpose and a vocation.

The answer is not only material assistance. Young people also need:

🙏 Faith — to know that their lives have meaning in Christ.

St John Bosco believed that young people could become good Christians and responsible citizens when they were accompanied with reason, religion and loving-kindness.

This is why Bosco Rise Lesotho believes that youth ministry must go beyond events.

We must educate the mind, form the heart, strengthen faith and develop the person.

And we look to young saints such as St Dominic Savio, who showed that holiness is not something reserved for old age.

A young person can choose Christ.
A young person can choose discipline.
A young person can choose goodness.
A young person can serve others.
A young person can become holy.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 TO PARENTS

Parents, your role matters.

Behind every young person is a story, and sometimes behind a struggling young person is a family that is also struggling.

Do not only ask:

“What is wrong with my child?”

Ask:

“What is happening in my child's heart, environment, school, friendships and future?”

Listen. Accompany. Correct with love. Pray together. Encourage education. Create safe spaces for conversation.

🎓 TO STUDENTS

Your circumstances do not have to determine your future.

Study with purpose.
Seek knowledge.
Build good friendships.
Respect your teachers and parents.
Protect your dignity.
Develop your talents.
Keep Christ at the centre.

Your education is not only preparation for employment; it is also preparation for responsibility and service.

💼 TO WORKERS AND ADULTS

The future of Lesotho is not built by young people alone.

Teachers, employers, parents, Church leaders, government, organisations and communities all have a responsibility to create environments where young people can grow.

Instead of asking only:

“What can young people do for Lesotho?”

we must also ask:

“What are we doing to prepare and empower young people for Lesotho?”

Every young person has a vocation — a call from God to become something meaningful and to serve others.

📖 Today’s Gospel invites us to look beyond ourselves.
Our faith is not only something we celebrate at church. It should influence how we study, work, make decisions, treat our families, use our time and respond to the problems around us.

🇱🇸 The unpopular reality:
Sometimes young people are struggling, while parents are silently struggling too. Grandparents carry responsibilities they never expected. Aunts and uncles become second parents. Brothers and sisters carry burdens they don't always talk about.

And sometimes young people are labelled as “lazy,” “lost” or “disrespectful” without asking what is happening underneath.

But we must also ask young people difficult questions:

➡️ Are we using our time wisely?
➡️ Are we taking education seriously?
➡️ Are we preparing ourselves for work and responsibility?
➡️ Are we discovering our talents and vocation?
➡️ Are we contributing to our families and communities?
➡️ Are we facing the root causes of our struggles instead of only complaining about their consequences?

St John Bosco believed that young people should not simply be corrected — they should be accompanied, educated and given hope.

That is the heart of Bosco Rise Lesotho. ❤️

We are living in a time when many young people in Lesotho are asking:

“Will I ever succeed?”
“What is my future?”

Youth unemployment, poverty, limited opportunities, education challenges and the pressure of everyday life are real. But your circumstances are not the complete story of who you are.

⏳ Time teaches us something important:
You cannot change yesterday.
You cannot control everything happening today.
But you can decide what you will do with the time you have been given.

🌱 Know your purpose.

🤝 Build relationships that strengthen you.
📚 Learn something every day.
