#3: Tides of Madness

Shipwrecked in a Sea of Ghosts, you awaken to the bite of the frost and the wrath of a sunless tide.

As nameless things stir in blackest depths, a great, rotting bark glides silent from the shroud of mist, a spectral salvation? Yet the vessel be entirely barren; its sails hang as tattered rags in the biting gale.

An unnatural rime clings to the weary wood, and a creeping, soundless whisper gnaws at your very thoughts... What grim doom hath taken the crew? And to what cursed shores does this phantom ship sail?

You must unveil this vessel's darkest secret, lest the deep lay claim to your mind...

We’re inviting all indie filmmakers to submit their work for a spotlight screening as part of KIXORTS, the 5th Microfilm Festival held at Kixott, Mosta.

Selected filmmakers are expected to attend the screening on Saturday 3 October at 19:30 to take part in a short Q&A.

Tiny Gigs ✨

Our upstairs gets a little stranger for the next Tiny Gig, with Ġiżimina -- the side project of Yasmin Kuymizakis, best known as JOON -- returning after a decade.

Built from chopped guitar samples drawn from the Magna Żmien archive, Ġiżimina’s new mini-album Id-Dlam Id-Dawl moves through Maltese musical memory, identity and lived experience.

Expect an intimate live set rooted in Maltese sounds, reworked through electronics, sampling and experimentation.

Kixott mourns the passing of creative powerhouse and inspirational educator Gorg Mallia, who left us earlier today at the age of 68.

A pioneering satirical cartoonist and a prolific author of works for children -- and more -- his legacy will also be marked by the impact he's had on thousands of students who had the honour of being taught by him as they sought to give shape to their passion for the media, the written word and comic books -- all of which he sustained his own passion for to an infectious degree, right up until the end.

In many ways, Gorg personifies precisely the kind of generative, genuine and protean creative force that Kixott has always operated under, and will continue to do so.

One of Malta's brightest lights has passed on, and it is now our duty to keep the embers alive.

We extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones during this challenging time.

#2: The Maiden Voyage

The year is 1851, and all eyes are upon Britannia’s Twenty-First Grand Exhibition, where the world’s greatest inventors gather to unveil the wonders of a new age. Steam and sorcery have transformed civilisation, and today promises another historic first: the maiden voyage of the Aether Flux Aerial Engine, a vessel built to conquer the skies.

You are among the fortunate few invited aboard.

What begins as a celebration of human ingenuity soon takes an unexpected turn. High above London, something goes terribly wrong - and the voyage becomes a journey into territory no map has ever recorded.

Some discoveries were never meant to be made. And finding a way home may prove far stranger than leaving it.

#1: Thief of Nine Fangs.

Veltria is your home, and the last bastion of civilization that gazes mortified at the mutated horrors that emerge from the spell-torn, red wastes.

You, renowned members of the thieves guild, have been called forth by the local centurion for a parley, and rumors of a shared threat to both your families and the empire

Amongst the emergence of many other snake cults across the empire, one rose both in power and fame as citizens abandon their families and work to join this cult promising salvation and rebirth.

The centurion hopes that you could steal their idol, or assassinate their leadership all whilst avoiding patrols by the neighboring Sorcerer Kingdoms in order to prevent whatever ritual they aim to complete.

Travel far beyond the confines of civilization, observe the splendor of savagery in the red wastes, meet interesting, exotic and vile people... And end them!
