60 km of pipework. Almost 20,000 sprinkler heads. More than 3,000 fire-stopped penetrations. Around 18 months of work.

That’s the scale of the fire protection project Firetech has delivered at the newly completed Hard Rock Hotel and St George’s Mall, a landmark development by db Group Malta .

Over the past year and a half, our teams have worked across the development to deliver a significant part of its fire protection systems, with thousands of components installed, connected and tested throughout the buildings.

A sprinkler system of this scale is almost like a web, with kilometres of pipework intertwining throughout the buildings and connecting back to dedicated fire pump rooms, ensuring the required water supply is available wherever protection is needed. In the event of a fire, sprinklers activate individually to help control the fire and limit its spread.

And behind these numbers is an incredible amount of work. From our engineers and design teams, to draftspersons, technical designers, supervisors, technicians and installers, it takes an entire team working with precision, coordination and expertise to deliver fire protection on this scale.

A special thank you goes to our Project Manager, Alvaro Gomes Ferreira, who has led the team throughout this project with incredible knowledge, confidence, coordination and commitment.
