🇲🇺 AI IN MAURITIUS: THE CONVERSATION HAS TO MOVE FROM POTENTIAL TO IMPLEMENTATION.

HR Box Ltd was honoured to be invited to the African Development Bank Group AI Partners Consultation Meeting, bringing together stakeholders to discuss what it will take to strengthen Mauritius’ AI ecosystem.

What stood out to me is that the conversation is not simply about AI technology.

It is about people, skills, investment, governance and the future of work

From an HR perspective, this is particularly important.

AI readiness cannot be separated from workforce readiness.

We can invest in infrastructure, platforms and technology, but without the right skills, organisational structures, governance and learning ecosystems, adoption will remain limited.

This is also where I believe HR needs to have a stronger seat at the AI table.

Not only to manage the impact of AI on jobs, but to help organisations answer:

What skills will we need?
Which roles will evolve?
What should we automate?
What should we augment?
How do we reskill our people?
And how do we govern AI responsibly?

These are not future questions anymore.

They are workforce questions we need to address now and on which HR Box Ltd is highly interested in answering.

HR Box Ltd had the opportunity to attend the Masterclass on “Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision and Applications”, organised by the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) in collaboration with the University of Mauritius.

The masterclass was delivered by Professor Xiaohong Gao, an academic in Vision Imaging at Middlesex University, London, offering an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the rapidly evolving applications of AI and computer vision.

A valuable reminder that AI adoption starts with AI literacy, continuous learning and the ability to understand how technology is reshaping work

The past few weeks may have been a little quieter here at HR Box Ltd.

We recently had the opportunity to deliver our “Basic HR with AI” training with one of our clients, bringing together the fundamentals of effective HR operations with practical ways to use AI in everyday HR work.

From understanding how AI can support HR processes, to exploring practical tools and responsible ways of integrating AI into the workplace, the session was all about one thing:

Making HR simpler, smarter and more effective, without losing the human element. 🤝

Because AI should not replace good HR.

Last week, we had the opportunity to meet with a client who is just beginning their AI journey.

We didn’t leave the meeting feeling proud because we had spoken about AI.

We left feeling inspired because we could see something changing.

You know that moment when someone’s eyes light up because they suddenly realise AI is much more than a chatbot?

That moment when they understand that AI isn’t just about technology. It’s about making better decisions, building the right governance, using it responsibly, and preparing people to work alongside it.

Those conversations remind us why HR BOX exists.

Every organisation is at a different stage of its AI journey. Some are already experimenting, while many are still asking where to begin.

And that’s okay.

Our role isn’t simply to introduce AI.
