There is a lot more to wreck hunting than you often see on social media.

HMS Cheerful was lost with substantial loss of life in 1917. Over 100 years later, the location of the wreck remains unknown.

Thanks to the ongoing research, scanning and surveying efforts of Kevin Heath , new information emerged that warranted divers searching a previously unexplored location.

Alas, after a full week of searching in 84m of water, with a team of 12 divers, HMS Cheerful remains unfound…

Last week I was invited to join the Gasperados Dive Team on a trip to dive an unidentified Type VIIC U-Boat sitting in 70m of water, approximately 30 miles from Plymouth.

With some tricky conditions on the bottom, only Deep Wreck Diver and I managed to get onto the wreck. Working together with the gasperados team as well as historians Axel Niestle and Michael Lowrey, we were able to piece together the evidence and make the identification.

There’s something special about sharing moments like this underwater calm, focused, and completely in sync. This shot of and .baker was taken in Cenote Nariz on one of their first dives after completing their CCR cave course… and what a place to put those new skills to the test.

I might be a little biased as it’s my favourite mine to dive… but this has to be one of the most photogenic underwater locations in the UK.

From huge open chambers to remnants like this old bridge part removed, every part of the mine tells a story from when it was once a working slate quarry.

This was a great dive with where we traversed along the shallow level to the end of line and back.

The p29, once a german-built patrol boat, now sits as one of malta’s most iconic artificial reefs after its sinking in 2007, over time it has transformed into a thriving underwater habitat.

For all photographers, have you ever had your buddy give you that 'really, are you serious?' look while positioning them for a shot?

That's exactly what happened here, trying to nail a sweet silhouette on the cave floor. nailed the pose!

DPVs: do you see them as a tool or toy?

Many see them as a fun ride, but they’re also crucial for pushing the limits of expedition diving. While or photographers like me, they’re a game changer, making it easier to carry equipment and set up shots quickly.

1 km inside a flooded North Wales slate mine, this bridge just… stops.

Originally built so miners could move between chambers and push carts across the workings, only part of the structure remains today, hanging above the water after decades of abandonment.

It’s hard to know whether the bridge was never finished, or if sections were removed when the mine closed and the workings were left to flood.

Now it sits frozen in time deep underground.

What do you think unfinished, or dismantled later?

Drifting through one of the beautifully decorated chambers in the Mexican cave systems.

It’s hard to capture the true scale of these spaces in a photo, but the formations here have been growing for thousands of years. Long before the caves flooded, stalactites and stalagmites slowly formed the landscape we now have the privilege to dive through.

Mexico really does have some of the most incredible cave diving on the planet.

This crossing once carried both men and mine carts between chambers. Now it hangs in silence a reminder of the industry, grit, and human effort that shaped these underground worlds.

Diving places like this is more than just the dive itself. It’s the contrast advanced rebreather technology moving through spaces carved by hand, steel, and sweat.
