Greater Kestrel. Southern Africa's largest kestrel species, but not the most exciting. Not boldly coloured and not a particularly bold hunter either - content to sn**ch lizards and arthropods when they're available.

A male Namaqua Dove. Africa's smallest dove and the only one with such a long tail. On this one, only one of the 3-5 metallic blue/purple wing spots is clearly visible.

Driving back to our camp at sunset, we were trundling along at our usual 20 km/h when this African wildcat crossed our path. It paused just long enough for me to take one or two photos before continuing on it's way and disappearing into the Kalahari dusk.
